I've loved Michael Savage since he began as a guest host in the SF Bay Area and then became one of the pillars of KSFO. He can be opinionated and harsh but that is part of his entertainment persona and he admits that talk radio requires a degree of entertainment to keep people listening. He was recently reading from Political Zoo and I decided to get a copy. I have a short attention span while reading so this is perfect for me because it's like a bunch of short stories. Much more entertaining than the required reading from my Political Science proffesors in college who assigned their own publishings. Had they known I was a fan of the Savage Nation I would have never graduated.

Political satire at its best. Michael is an exceptional writer, who specializes in irony and satire with reference to current politics (conservatives vs. democrats). He uses Latin names that he has made up to replace the names of various politicians, with definitions for each.
"The Political Zoo " is funny and each Latin name Michael has chosen to represent a specific politician has accompanying artwork.
If you want to laugh at those who comprise today's political arena, then buy this book. You won't be disappointed!

Dr. Savage is America's foremost raconteur of politics. He is not politically correct and he calls a spade a spade. Conservative talk radio has gotten caught in a malaise in recent years. Obama's reelection as president has cut severely into there panache. But not Dr. Savage. I got this book and cannot help but laugh at the figures in it.
The various taxonomic names given to our recent politicians is great. The use of satire to send up the people who supposedly run our country is great. All I wish is that Savage would create an addendum to this, in order to make the book a slight bit more contemporary.

In this political satire, radio talk-show host Michael Savage assumes the role of a zookeeper at a politically- and celebrity-themed zoo. It provides the reader with a handful of politicians and celebrities transformed into animals: From Kofi Annan ("scandalon aspus, The African Scandal Asp") to Ted Turner ("mouthus desouthus, The Southern Widemouth Copperhead"), this book never fails to enthrall. It seems only fitting that it is written like a nature guide; it features short essays to clarify each person's chosen animal satire. (Not to that mention some of these clarifications could be interpretable as complimentary.) Quite frankly, these anthropomorphizations are quite clever. Depending on your political beliefs, it is either suitable for your coffee table or can make for great bathroom reading. I'm sure this can be a humorous read for fans and non-fans of Savage alike.
