I had $300 in gift certificates from Best Buy and my Mission ASI 700 sub had died. My home theatre is relatively small so I don't need a 300+ watt monster. I auditioned the Klipsch and it was just too boomy for my tastes, I love tight well defined bass and boomy only when it is suppose to be. I was impressed with the Definitive PSB1000 it was tight and punchy, but I did not want to spend $499.00+. The Polk PSW110 was 249.99 and it gave tight bass, but definitely seemed a little thin at the store. It has a 30 day money back from Best Buy, so I gave it a shot. When I got it home, I fired it up with my Outlaw 950 and the sound was tight, but still seemed to be a little thin and muddy sounding. Knowing that out of the box is not a speakers true sound, I loaded up the CD carousel and let it go at moderate volume. About 4 hours in, "The sub came to life!!!!" It put out extremely tight, strong and well defined bass, beyond its $249 price tag. The only thing that separated its sound quality from a $500+ sub is that, it's low end could be a hair lower. I put in X2 (X-Men United)on the DVD player and this sub did a fantastic job!!!! The definitive does go a little bit lower, but this is every bit as tight, defined and musical, extremely impressive for a $249.00 sub. YOU MUST GIVE IT AT LEAST 4 HOURS OF BREAK IN BEFORE MAKING A SERIOUS DECISION. CHANCES ARE THAT THE DISPLAY AT BEST BUY HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN IN.

Read the reviews, these things die after a few years. Same complaint as everyone else, it started a thumping noise that sounded like a heart beat, then died. I am now trying to revive it by buying a replacement power supply, but having second thoughts...
Updated on 01/12/16:
I called Polk customer service after I had all but gave up, called them as an afterthought not expecting anything. I was surprised when I reached a warranty tech who took my info and with no more questions asked sent me a replacement power supply. I received it in the mail the next day to my astonishment. Screwed it on plugged it in & now it rock and rolls again.
Love that kind of customer service, those who stand behind their product. very convenient 3 yr warranty on the electronics, like!
Shout out to Gary Jr @ Polk audio - You Rock!

I ordered this subwoofer based upon reviews from others who had purchased it from Amazon and decided to take a chance as we were going to install it in a good sized room. We put it in our living room which is about 20' X 30' with a 12' cathedral ceiling and hooked it up to our new Pioneer VSX 9040TXH Receiver using the Monster 16' Subwoofer Interconnect Cable. WOW! It's great. Our music and movies never sounded so good.

Now, let me confess, this is the first powered subwoofer I've owned but I can't imagine needing any more power. It does not rattle the doors but it'll definitely wake you up and keep you awake! It's got all of the power I need and then some, we've never turned the volume all the way up so I don't know what it'd do if you wanted to drive it full bore. It also has a feature that I didn't see listed in the specifications, that is namely an "auto standby" which shuts off the amp after 15 minutes of no signal from the receiver. Nice touch.

One last note. I paid a little extra for 2-3 business day delivery. I ordered this subwoofer along with the Pioneer receiver at about 1P.M. on Thursday and received both of them at about 3P.M. on Friday. Fantastic! Thank you Amazon.

I have had this for a couple of years now and I am a music enthusiast. I replaced a wonderful JBL sub and speakers when I switched to Polk Audio. I love the speakers but the week link in clearly in this sub. It is simply lifeless, dull booming type base sound but most has certainly had no distortion. However, if you get the volume beyond 120 it will produce a low volume hum. I have small Yamaha sub, 6inch down firing for my TV sound system that truly out performs this sub by leaps and bounds - it has such clear deep tight base sound much like the JBL. I am in the process of replacing this sub with a Yamaha. I want a sub that will make sound exciting such as to feel the T-Rex in Jurasic Park running after the jeep simply come alive in the room as he takes every step and moves the ground beneath my feet with such excitement as if I were there! Or listen to Led Zepplin as if you were in the concert yourself. This sub does not do any of this for me.

This is a great sub. Great with both movies (BOOM!) and music (tight). But you have to dial it in! Take some time, read your receiver and speaker manuals, do your homework. It has to be adjusted for your system. Also give it a week or so to break in - many have reported this sub becomes bassier and more responsive with a little time. I paired this with a set of Polk TSi300 towers and couldn't be happier with the result. Looks awesome too - very well designed.

I got this for free in an Amazon/Polk offer - buy over $500 of Polk / get the sub free. The subwoofer is incredibly clean - but can't quite keep up with the rest of my system (Onkyo HT-SR875 and Polk Monitor series in a 5.1 config). This sub would probably be great in a very small home theater in a small room. Free was a great price - but when I get a chance, this will be moved to the rear of my system and I'll add a 12"/230W Sub as my primary to help shake the house.

Extra points for how clean it is - since it's really easy to muddy up the low frequencies & the sound this creates is very crisp.
