Looking for bass you can hear and feel? The Polk DSW PRO 600 fills your room with deep, solid lows, thanks to a 12-inch woofer and potent 250-watt amplifier. This advanced subwoofer features Polk's exclusive Feed Forward(TM) technology, which reduces audible distortion without limiting volume. You get quick, precise response throughout the sub's entire frequency range, even at ground-shaking volume levels. The PRO 600 also includes the Polk Room Optimizer(TM), an ingenious feature that lets you specify the location of your sub with one of four options — corner, mid-wall, in-cabinet, or mid-room. The Optimizer then automatically equalizes the sub's response to ensure smooth, clean bass from that position. You can easily access this function, as well as the volume control and phase switch, with the included remote. Removable feet let you position the PRO 600 for either front-firing or down-firing operation, whichever you prefer. The all-new DSW PRO Series represents more than a significant step forward in subwoofer performance. Rather, with the incorporation of two proprietary Polk Audio technologies that offer clearly discernable benefits, you might want to think of the new DSW PRO Series as representing a new subwoofer performance standard. Loud & Low Specs(CEA2010): Low 121 db / Ultra 100 db

The signal processing adds a slight delay (or perhaps a big speaker is just slower than I'm used to), barely perceptible. However, my receiver has a "speaker distance" feature, which delays the audio signal based on how many feet you say each speaker is from the listener. I set my regular speakers as "3 feet away" and the sub as "55 feet away", which added a ~50ms delay (sound moves at about 1 ft/msec) to the speakers compared to the sub (I think). Although I don't know if the latency is really that high (maybe I'm overcompensating), I definitely preferred this change when listening to music.
**Update 27 Nov 2010** After a few days of playing the new Gran Turismo 5 I'm amazed at how much power this sub has. I have my PS3 on top of the sub and it nearly fell off from the vibrations. I'll update later once I've updated the other speakers in my setups...currently they're the lim-fac in my sound system.
I will say that you can get this sub for a lot less than $620. Value wise I'm sure it's worth that, but it's pretty easy to find it in the $350-$400 range. You can also buy the cover for this now if you need it. I think it's around $55.
