Polk 4 Shot Gaming Headset
Designed for Xbox One. Audio tuned for gaming. Hear what you have been missing. Built for Xbox One and audio on the go, the 4 Shot reproduces Polk’s heritage of more than 40 years of award-winning high-performance sound. Your passion for games and music will find their true expression in the 4 Shot. Polk engineers teamed up with Microsoft sound designers to create an audio profile custom tuned for popular titles like Halo and Forza. Working together, they created an audio experience that transports you into the game, no longer are you just an observer. Because the 4 Shot is made for gaming and music, it is designed with a two mic system. It has a first-of-its-kind retractable mic for communication on the go and for listening to music. Moreover, it also includes a newly developed extended boom mic, the Chat Pro mic, which provides optimal chat and sound quality for gaming on the XBOX One. The 4 Shot Gaming Headset does not play games when it comes to sound.
Designed for the serious gamer, the 4 Shot headset is much more than gaming headphones. Fashioned with comfort foremost in mind, their sonic performance is more than capable of taking you not only deeper into any game, but also deeper into your music and movies.

Note that video review consists of pt1: original mic sound, then it is immediately followed by the fixed microphone at the 30-second mark.
As many know, the mic quality (that is, other players being able to hear you speak) is problematic. Turns out it's not a hardware issue, it's a firmware issue. Microsoft is aware of the problem and they are going to be updating the drivers, which should resolve the mic issue.
But first, Polk has responded to the mic issue by sending out a hardware fix. They promised this a few weeks back, and I received mine today. (They're in San Diego, I'm in Los Angeles, so quick shipping. I'd imagine it may be a few more days for east coasters, but that's just a guess.)
It basically replaces the cable you use to connect the headphones to your xbox controller. The new cable has a small, flexible mic sticking out. I've done a test, and it absolutely fixes the problem. Don't take my word for it, I've recorded a video (gotta love the xbox's built-in ability to record clips and add voice over to them), and I'll upload the clip here as a video review. You'll hear the before and after.
Remember to register your headphones and you'll get the new mic sent to you for free. And my hat is off to Polk for not waiting for the firmware to be fixed, but rather they went proactive and are dealing with the problem themselves, to make sure we've got a great headset.
Pros: excellent game sound. Forget the "stereo" designation -- the audio is immersive and you absolutely can track sound all around you.
Cons: Can't hear yourself when you speak into the mic.... that takes some getting used to, but other players in the game will hear you just fine.Read more ›
UPDATE: So after marathoning all night with these guys I've decided to drop my review to a 3-star, reason being? The voice quality. Don't get me wrong I still stand behind everything in my review BUT looking at it the voice clarity isn't nearly as good as a standard MS headset and at night I unfortunately have to keep it down and at times the mic couldn't pick up my voice and that is not good. I do feel that it mostly has to do with the adaptor but it polk worked with MS and they do know their audio if I'm going to spend $150 the voice functions need to work correctly. With that said I did reach out to polk via FB, and twitter and they did reply saying that they're looking into the issue so I do give them credit for looking into it but at this point I'm looking into the XO Sevens, by all means it's still a very solid headset, but I'm having a hard time getting past the poor mic quality.
Since the console released I've been using the standard headset with the Tritton Warheads over them, sadly those aren't compatabile with the new adaptor so those had to be retired. So it was between these or the XO Sevens. WIth Polks rich history and the everyday look of these I opted for the 4 shots.Read more ›
Polk has a longstanding reputation for audio excellence, and we pride ourselves in doing all that we can to ensure our customers have the ultimate listening experience. Upon learning about initial chat quality issues with the 4 Shot, we immediately developed a new solution: a redesign of the 4 Shot as a dual-microphone headset with the addition of the Chat Pro boom microphone. The current 4 Shot headset features the same first-of-its-kind retractable mic for communication on the go and for listening to music. We have also included a newly developed extended boom mic, the Chat Pro mic, which provides optimal chat and sound quality for gaming on the XBOX One.
Please visit our FAQ page to learn more about the dual microphones on the 4 Shot or to contact customer support to receive you Chat Pro mic. http://www.polkaudio.com/contact-us or at email@example.com
Before the update the sound was very clear but locked at a somewhat low maximum volume, at maximum volume it was loud but not loud enough. Bass was also very soft and the microphone barely picked up anything i said unless i yelled it. Aside from those complaints the sound this headset was producing was still incredibly clear and highly detailed. Now after the update, the volume issue is fixed, the bass is there and VERY heavy, i love it, and the microphone finally works the way it should. I have absolutely no complaints about this headset now, i've gone from considering returning them to now completely loving them, theres no way i'd return these now. As far as fit goes, i have a medium sized head, and these fit beautifully, they are very comfortable and really block out the external noises around you so all you can hear is whats happening in your game. The build on these is also very sturdy too, a fairly high quality build for the price. Ultimately this headset is exactly what you would expect from Polk, really AMAZING sound, they look great and are super comfortable!!
If you have any performance issues with these after march 31st 2014, then you have simply failed to update the xbox controller software. No one should have any performance complaints after the update. And Please take any reviews prior to this one wiith a grain of salt as they were all made BEFORE the update, Polk made great headphones, sadly microsoft dropped the ball on the firmware.

I purchased these from a 3rd party seller "with" the polk replacement mic included. The included mic doesn't work at all. That aside, I'm not a huge fan of these. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Dustin L
These headphone are nice. The only issue with these is that they lack bass at any level. I would only use these for gaming, music would not be enjoyable with the poor bass.Published 2 months ago by Aly Murdhani
