If you're looking to buy these 6x9's for more bass, please consider what I have to say.

These speakers sound great, so long as you don't push a lot of bass on them. These are definitely HPF friendly. I had a set of older Polk 6x9's, about 8 years old. They put out more bass on head unit power, than these do with 135W RMS going to them. I was a bit disappointed in the bass response these give off, and I was hoping to avoid buying a subwoofer for low frequency fill-in. But I'm okay with this, because what these speakers lack in the low-frequency department, they more than make up for in mids and highs. I wrote a review on the matching 6.75" coaxial speakers a few minutes ago, and I would say these produce just as amazing sound as they do.

These speakers MUST be amplified. I cannot stress this enough. They have a high power handling rating, for a reason. So if you plan on running deck power, skip these over. You'll need an amplifier to be satisfied. These speakers are also 2.7 ohm, which means there is a chance they won't be compatible with your head unit anyways. I cannot imagine a stock head unit being low impedance friendly. So please keep that in mind. As well, they require at least 15W RMS, which most head units will barely be able to supply.

So about the bass. Well... they don't boom. At all, actually they sound kind of muddy (even with 135W running to them). They bottom out easily at that power level and simply don't put out enough sound to warrant me using these for bass fill-in. Because of this, I am currently waiting on my new mono amp to arrive so I can install my subwoofer. But, these speakers REALLY shine for mids and high frequencies. Ear-piercing amounts of sound, people. They really did a good job on these.

Using these speakers in a motorcycle fairing. Any talk of bass performance would be a complete waste of electrons because at any speed greater than 30 MPH all bass frequencies are nearly inaudible anyway. Still, they bump pretty good sitting at a stop light if you're into that sort of thing. I drive these speakers with a marine amplifier pushing 70 watts RMS per channel. I can clearly hear my music at 75 MPH.

I've listened to many pairs of 6x9's, and these have to be the best I've ever heard. Crystal clear highs, great mid-range, exceptional bass response, and very efficient as well. Built quality is top-notch. I'd recommend these to anyone.

As a previous high end home audio, video, and automotive sound salesperson, I have listened to quite a few different brands of speakers in all kinds of environments.I have purchased many speakers from Polk Audio in the past and have always been very pleased with the sound they produce.

These MM691 6x9 3-way's are an exceptional value. The mids & highs are accurate and airy. I am used to slightly better bass performance from Polk speakers, but this may be due to the limited enclosure space I had available(installed in my boat). These speakers are being driven with a Soundstream Reference amp which is pushing 230 watts per channel into 4ohms. These speakers are only 2ohms so I am sure it is a bit higher than that. I am not a maximum decibal guy, but like clean tight sound. These Polk's handle this big amp just fine!

Bang for the buck these are the best 6x9's you will find...

After my install on my streetglide everything seemed to work fine in the shop. About 30 minutes on the road and I melted the crossovers or bass blocker components. I have the correct gauge speaker wire, and I had my gains on my amp at zero. I had some real crossover in my shop witch I installed. Round 2 test ride. The crossovers did not burn up but the back of the speaker was blazing hot. Now I'm also running the MM651 in the front of my bike. I deleted the crossovers and ran the speakers in series so they would be at 4ohm and yes no tweeters. I order these speakers a few months back and just got back in the country. So looks like will be contacting Polk instead of the seller. I hope this helps.

I purchased these for my wife's car and installed them myself. I was a little concerned at first because I bought them before I actually looked at the "what fit's your car" selector, and of course, it said they would not fit. (I checked this before I bought them, but I guess I was looking at another set of speakers, not realizing that these really were not supposed to fit) We have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and I was putting them in the rear deck. As it turns out, the issue is the height of the speakers. The tweeter and mid range speakers stick up high enough that they would touch the rear deck cover. However, that only happens if you use the stock Chevrolet plastic speaker mounting brackets that come on the stock speakers. Using those brackets lifts the speaker about an inch above the actual metal surface of the rear deck. What I did to solve that problem was mount them the old fashioned way, the way we used to mount rear deck speakers back in the '70s and '80s. I got in the trunk and held the speaker underneath the speaker hole from inside the trunk, used a punch to scratch the spots for the mounting holes and drilled the 4 holes from underneath. Then took the speakers and put them in the top and screwed them in,and they fit just fine. I was able to put the rear deck cover back in just the way it came out and everything fit perfectly. Once installed, they sounded great. We have a Kenwood DNX6140 and these things work great with it. They sound really good, so much better than the stock speakers! It really woke things up. They have good mid range and highs and the base is much better than stock. They don't hit like a set of subs of course, but are much improved over stock speakers. Highly recommended.
