Product Description

The CSW155 combines stealth convenience with incredible technology to rival the performance of many free-standing, floor-cluttering subwoofers. With one of the shallowest drivers ever engineered (a Polk Audio exclusive), this subwoofer produces air-moving, room-filling bass, while disappearing behind a camouflage "air conditioning return" vent. Deep and musical, it's professionally matched to other Polk Audio loudspeakers, allowing you to build the home theater of your dreams in new construction or even in existing walls (60" H x 14" W x 3 3/8" D).

Bought this for a 5.1 system I built for a customer. I recommend using the SWA500 500w amp that Polk Audio recommends, you wont be dissappointed. I installed this in a standard wood frame wall with very old and brittle drywall on it, i expected to have to repair or replace alot of after i turned the system on. To my surprise while the bass produced by this sub will wake your neighbors and drive you out of the house, there is very minimal vibration in the wall itself. Was very surprised and am most definately going to keep buying these and installing them every chance i get.

I finished my basement this year and installed this before the drywall went up. The large brackets and size made for a firm fit between the studs. The mounting made the whole unit as strong and solid as the wall and studs themselves. My wall has 2x6 studs so there was plenty of room, almost too much. It would be nice if Polk made a thicker version for 2x6's instead of 2x4's. The cover plate worked out perfectly to protect it during the rest of the construction. I also purchased the recommended Polk SWA500 amp to power it along with a Yamaha AV 840 to feed it. The subwoofer is mounted near the corner of my room, which is about 20 x 35 feet. The outer wall is brick, which I think helps prevent vibration. The TV, couch and listening area is about 20 x 20 on one end of my room. This is not a technical analysis, but the subwoofer has the power make it feel like an entire wall and couch is shaking. It is very impressive to listen to. I am surprised however that I can tell at all levels that the sound is coming from the corner. I expected it have more of an omnidirectional feel, but perhaps that is a matter of tuning, more break-in, or maybe the large area justifies a second subwoofer. In any case, this is a great unit. Be prepared to spend on the required separate amp when budgeting.

I have 2 OSD in-wall subs in my basement but these polk audio's are installed in my family room upstairs and are by far the most amazing in-wall subs I've ever heard. Wish I had the money to spend in my basement.

Weak structure near port was found to be cracked during installation. I would have pretty upset had the installer not noticed and let the Sheetrock crew move forward. This delayed my home remodel about 3 days. I chose not to replace given the fear of cracking later In the wall.
