Polk Audio's RCi Series in-wall speakers let you deliver sound to every room in your home without sacrificing a single square inch of valuable floor or shelf space, and the RC60i in-wall speakers are no exception. Paint them to match your decor and they practically disappear, leaving you with nothing but high-performance sound.
Installation is easy as 1-2-3: cut a single hole, feed the wires through to your receiver or amplifier, and simply drop the speaker in. Rotating cams secure the speakers safely with no extra assembly or mess. A round shape and flush design allows each RC60i to mimic the look of a recessed lighting fixture, providing the ultimate in stealth sound.
The pair is durable, too, with moisture-resistant materials that are perfectly safe for use in bathrooms, kitchens, saunas--even under outdoor eaves. Rubber driver surrounds outlast cheap foam surrounds for years of trouble-free performance.
Dynamic Balance components and aimable tweeters ensure spacious imaging with stunning clarity and well-balanced sound in any listening position, not just a small "sweet spot." Wide-dispersion design means you'll enjoy even coverage across small and large rooms alike.
The speakers use large, 6.5-inch cones for rich, full-bodied sound. Further, their Infinite Baffle tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space to enhance their bass response. The speakers are timbre-matched to the members of Polk's RTi Series for seamless, enveloping sound when used as part of a home theater. It is 2-way speaker.

I was skeptical about putting speakers in the ceiling thinking I would lose quality of sound. Man was I wrong, they sound even better than the old speakers and having them overhead makes a huge difference in my opinion over standard setups. I also like that I could position the tweeter and point it towards the seating area.
Now I am no audiophile or self proclaimed expert with super sensitive hearing or ability to hear outside of the human spectrum, but in my opinion these Polks will not let you down. I covered the speakers in the ceiling with old dish towels just to keep debris out of the voice coils. Other than that you cut the holes run your wires and they pop right in.
My only complaint with these Polk RC60i speakers was with the mounting tabs. On the JBL, the mounting tabs rotate easily into position and lock right into place. This helps when holding the speaker with one hand and a drill to screw it in with the other. On the Polk I found the tabs sometimes didn't rotate and would catch on the plastic case in the retracted position. I had to work the screw loose and tight again to get the tab to rotate into the locked position. One jammed and the screw snapped of in the tab, and I had to remove the speaker, pull out the tab, and replace the screw before reinstalling it. This was my own fault for using the drill on high speed, but I found the rotating tab design did not work as cleanly as the JBL SP6C (I did this same install with 24 speakers and never had a JBL tab catch, I had two different tabs catch on one Polk RC60i).
So, be careful with screwing the tabs in, and you'll have some great sounding speakers.
The adjustable tweeter cone allows me to direct the sound to the area where needed and I am getting very good stereo separation when standing in between the two speakers.
I installed these myself and the install process was very easy. These speakers are not enclosed and the room in which I mounted them has blown fiberglass insulation so after removing the blown insulation around the speaker hole I added a small patch of rolled fiberglass insulation to replace the removed insulation as well as to provide additional bass response.
I am not an audiophile but I do listen to a LOT of music and I appreciate good sound. These sound really great to me!
The speaker clips are spring loaded and I had no trouble with them. They remained clamped even while I was turning the speaker around in my hand and inserting it into the ceiling hole. Had they unclipped under the strain it would have been really annoying.
I had no trouble removing the grill nor re-mounting it. I did not have a paper clip which is what is suggested for removing the grill but I was able to remove it just by alternating my grip around the edges until it came out. The grill is held in place only by tension between the grill metal and the enclosure, no clips so it's easy to remove but stays in place.
