I originally purchased a set of the signature S 15 speakers for my front left and right channels from Best Buy. They are great quality and produce wonderful sound. It wasn’t until later that I came across the advertisement for the S 20s here on amazon. I was curious to see how much of an improvement the S 20s would be over the 15‘s. Again, the S 15‘s are excellent speakers, so I was expecting a modest improvement in sound quality from the step up S 20s.
The first thing I noticed when I got these puppies in was the size, these are very large bookshelf speakers, considerably larger than the S 15’s. It’s one thing to read the dimensions for the S 20s on paper but quite another to actually see and lift them. They are big.
As I suspected the sound was improved over the S 15’s, However, the improvement was much greater than I had expected. These speakers produce truly quality sound, in fact I would say they are the best sounding speakers I’ve ever owned. The tweeters produce crisp detailed highs, while the woofer puts out bold and clear mids and lows. The S 20s have some serious bass. Way more than I expected! They sound great even without a sub woofer. I found this to be the case with both movies and music. I have now moved the S 15’s to be my right and left surround channels. I’ve also purchased a set of the S 10s for my back surrounds channels and an S 35 center chanel speaker. They all sound fantastic together. I really can’t praise the speakers enough. The build quality of the speaker cabinets is also excellent, when I play them loud I can touch them and feel no vibration. The whole American Hi-Fi Signature series of speakers is amazing.
If you’re not familiar with Polk Audio, they specialize in making high-quality speakers in the mid-price range. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat there quality. For those like me, with high end taste, but an average guys wallet, Polk is the way to go.

I looked at the dimensions and read the reviews - but the dimensions never registered until I pulled one out of the box - these are HUGE speakers. Calling them 'bookshelf' speakers is a stretch because they wouldn't fit on most bookshelves (depth). The sound quality from these speakers is nice - clear, crisp highs, warm mids and slightly punchy bass. I didn't really test the bass because I have a M&K V12 subwoofer paired with these speakers and it covers everything below 180Hz.
In the end - I'm returning these due to their massive size and hoping that the S15 is small enough to fit the space I have for them. If they're too big, I'll get another pair of the S10 speakers. I may update this review to show the size differences once the S15s arrive.
The picture shows the size difference between the S-10 and the S-20s. It's a significant difference. I tested both the S-10 and the S-20s as the front left and right channels and couldn't really tell a difference in sound quality (probably due to the sub filling in the lower end of the sound range)

Excellent, very large speakers!

Wow, these speakers are great. Also, these speakers are huge! As I was researching these speakers I realized there really isn't that much out there in the way of info on these speakers as far as real world use. Tech specs are easy enough to find, but not a whole lot of real world use scenarios. These spearkers are huge for "bookshelf" style speakers. The plus side is though, is that they sound great. I ran them without my sub for a little bit just to get an idea of the low end on these things and wow, it's pretty impressive. That being said, in conjucntion with my sub, and the S35 center channel, these speakers make quite an impressive showing. Everything sounds crystal clear and I am definately noticeing more details in my sound scape while listening to music or watching movies. I'm upgrading from the Energy Take Classic speakers, which sounded fine, but in comparison to these, I now think sound a bit muddy. It's a definate and noticable upgrade immediately. Great speakers, and I scored mine for $170 bucks as an Amazon warehouse returned item, described as "Used - Very Good", but they look brand new to me. Not a single scratch or mark on them. I'm blown away still at the deal I got. Even at full price, these would be worth it though in my opinion.

No se por donde empezar. El precio que conseguí es ridículamente barato para la gran calidad de las bocinas, en otras tiendas no bajan de 7500.Fue precisamente en una tienda departamental que me hicieron la demostración de las S10, y me parecía que sonaban bien, y aquí en Amazon por un precio menor estaban las S20, pense que 20 es mejor que 10, pero no espere tanto. Las cocinas son enormes, cada una pesa unos 8 kilos, a diferencia de las S10 o las s15 los drivers es de poco más de 6 pulgadas lo cual hace casi innecesario un Subwoofers, el nivel tan bajo de frecuencia que puede alcanzar impresiona.Cabe aclarar que el rango de operación es de 50 a 125 w que soporta desde un ampli, por el momento las he estado usando un un viejo ampli de 60w y se escuchan tan bien que no puedo esperar a usarlo con un ampli que realmente le saque jugo. Son mis primeras bocinas HIFI, pero el cambio se siente inmediatamente, los niveles tan altos de volumen que alcanza sin lastimar los oidos y a cambio solo obtienes más detalle de los instrumentos por ejemplo. Creo que son la mejor opción para presupuestos de entre 7 y 10 mil pesos, en cuestión de bocinas no se dejen llevar por marcas como Bosé, estas son unas bocinas de alto desempeño a muy buen precio.

Paired them with Onkyo NR646 with existing Polk S35, 12-Sub from Bic America and Kenwood tower speakers. Polk Audio Signature S20 speakers are on a completely different level. They have magnetic grills and easily removable. The clarity of the mids as well as the highs are mind blowing. They produce very clean, crisp, tight, clear sound. Bass is equally punchy and impressive if crossover settings are set properly keeping in mind the complete setup to push some lows as well to these sweet sounding speakers. They add overall great clarity to my existing 7.1 home theater and compliment best to my Polk S35 Slim Center Speaker. The Frequency response is ranging from 39 Hz to -40,000 Hz so it is able to handle base as well and sounds best with a 12 inch Sub. Planning to have S-60 in a few years to replace my tower speakers and got to save some money for that. Maybe S-15 as well and will have the complete Signature range from Polk.
I am glad to have these and thanks to AV BestBuy to take have taken care of the transaction very carefully ensuring that I have the best purchase experience with fast and safe delivery in pandemic. Pricing is slightly on the higher side in India with high import taxes on Audio/Video Electronics but when you listen to them, you will be mesmerized and lost in the world of music, movies, gaming, entertainment and will eventually find it worthy of everything you have spent.
