About the Author
Nishta J. Mehra was raised among a tight-knit network of Indian immigrants in Memphis, Tennessee. She is the proud graduate of St. Mary's Episcopal School and went on to earn a B.A. in Religious Studies from Rice University and an M.F.A in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. She is a fan of bourbon and old-school Tex-Mex (though not necessarily together) and makes a very fine buttermilk biscuit.

This is the kind of book that makes you gasp out loud when you read a particularly beautifully written line, that has you scrounging for a pencil to underline a perfectly turned phrase. It's a book for people who love language, who love food, ... in fact, it's a book for people who love, period.
I'm already looking forward to Ms. Mehra's next work. Highly recommend this book. I'll be purchasing it in print to have on my nightstand, and additional copies to give as gifts to people of whom I thought as I was reading the Kindle version.
The essays contained in "The Pomegranate King" are all true to Mehra's life: she details her losses, loves, and discoveries with faith and grace. Though not always a pretty story, it's all beautifully told. For readers who seek a true coming of age tale from a female protagonist, Nishta Mehra's collection of essays is a narrative you'll want to read.
Everyone should read this book. Really.
