From the manufacturer
Protect your chlorine for a longer lasting clean.
Test and balance your pool weekly to maintain clear water, prevent corrosion, protect surfaces from stains and scale, and ensure swimmer comfort.
Protecting your chlorine from burning off under the sun's ultraviolet rays with Clorox Pool&Spa Chlorine Stabilizer means longer lasting sanitation. Longer lasting sanitation means more splashes, more dives, and more pool fun! Ideal for new pools, saltwater pools, and pools that sanitize with chlorinating liquid. Test Stabilizer levels monthly and adjust when necessary, to ensure stabilizer levels are at least 30 ppm.
The importance of balancing your water
Maintaining balanced water helps ensure product effectiveness, prevents surface & equipment damage, and prevents eye & skin irritation.
- Ensure Stabilizer levels are at least 30 ppm all season
- Test Stabilizer levels monthly and adjust when necessary
Maintaining Balanced Water
Below are the balancing parameters you need to keep perfect water. Monitor your levels on a regular basis to ensure the best swimmer comfort, sanitizer efficiency, and longer lasting equipment.
- pH: 7.2 to 7.6.
- Free Chlorine: 1 to 4 ppm.
- Total Chlorine: 1 to 4 ppm.
- Stabilizer: Minimum of 30 ppm.
- Calcium Hardness: 175 to 275 ppm.
- Total Alkalinity: 80 to 150 ppm.
Because you need to test your water weekly to prevent water quality issues, at-home water testing is a convenient option to regularly monitor balancing parameters. Use Clorox Pool&Spa My Pool Care Assistant Multi-Use Smart Strips to test your water's hardness, total & free chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer levels at home.
For best results using Multi-Use Smart Strips:
Dip one Smart Strip into pool water at elbow’s depth, away from jets and remove immediately. Shake once to remove excess water.
- Never wipe or dry test strip after dipping in pool water.
- Read results in natural daylight.
- Keep wet fingers out of the bottle.
- Keep container tightly closed at all times.
- Store test strips in a cool, dry location.
Test strips are not reusable.
For accurate test results and personalized recommendations for your pool, Download the free 'Clorox Pool' app or use the 'Online Water Analysis'.
In the app, you can scan or manually enter your Smart Strip for a free water analysis and personalized product and dosage recommendation.

I'd pay more to have something that dissolves when poured in like the stuff at my local pool store. You pour that into the deep end and it vanishes immediately. Of course, you do pay a lot more for that convenience!
I choose not to pour this into my skimmer because it says on the product documentation that pouring in through the skimmer may raise the pressure on your filter (my filter is 15 years old and I don't want to push things).
