This is a beautiful, moving essay, utterly honest. Not your standard fare, either for or against. Recently I read a blog post in which the author refused to be "that kind of Christian." He meant the mean kind. I read it and thought, actually it's possible to be Christian, and have some very orthodox views yet not be "that kind of Christian" either.
We need more books of this caliber, subtle books, searingly honest books, to introduce ourselves to each other. There's so much more to this --to ALL and EACH of us--then pro life / pro-choice.
In the end, this is a story of mourning. It is without any cheap shots. I don't think it's possible to read it and be unmoved. Give it to your sons and your daughters so they can have a more subtle idea of what is at stake.
