Not only is it a lovely romance with some pretty darn hot sex scenes throughout (well done, Clare!), it's also very real in its portrayal of being gay and the impact of not being true to yourself.
As always, the writing itself is pure perfection. But that's Clare Ashton, isn't it? So good at what she does, you can't help but fall in love with her writing, her characters (especially Poppy!) and the story she tells. Now that I think of it, maybe WOW is the perfect way to describe Poppy Jenkins!! So go on, get your copy right now; you can thank me later!
The characters were all well-developed, but none more so than the titular character, Poppy Jenkins. There's just not much to dislike about Poppy. She's a spot of sunlight in every room she enters, but you don't make it to your 30s without a little baggage, and at the start of our story, Poppy's baggage arrives driving a shiny new Jaguar.
I'll leave the story recap to the the blurb, but I'll say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was like a Sunday picnic in book form, and it was one very well-made meal. Highly recommended.
The love of family and friends in a small
village kep the love afloat for Poppy. The vast of characters helped with the story. I am sure everyone wished they had Emma as their mother.
Rosalyn returning was the catalyst of some heartache for Poppy, but also the love she had been longing for.
Great read, but don't think it will be a fast and easy one.
