Let me explain what I think about this unit. I have 3500 square feet house in Central Florida and top of the line heat pump Central Air just installed a few years ago. All works perfect except one thing: I have to cool the entire house with it and at 4500 Watts in case of power down my diesel generator at 6500 Watts is just about running it when 1100 Watts refrigerator and lights are on at the same time. Another thing is Central Air conditioner will get you over 250 bucks electric bill during summer and this is when thermostat is set to only 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, I ordered this unit thinking it is going to be so-so portable that can subsidize cooling now and then. The unit came in UPS, it is about 84 lbs, has wheels, is very quiet, does wonders drying the air, very nice quality built and components, remote, digital thermostat, can be converted to auto drain with just additional hose if you really must, runs on 1100 Watts, and is pleasant to look at. At 9000 BTU it is very nice gizmo indeed - no vibrations, smooth working and very well made. That very same day I received it and run it for entire day, I ordered another one just like it. I hope that explains how good and useful this thing is. Get one if you need one and you will be happy you did. BTW, packaging for shipping was absolutely exemplary - this thing would have to be dropped from 2nd floor on concrete to get damaged in all that styrofoam and cartons. I am very happy with this purchase. Remote is also quite handy when you use it in the bedroom at night. Water tank that had to be emptied is actually good thing, because no worries about over flooding the unit, and you can distilled water for ironing or car battery if you ever need that. The conversion adapter for continues water drain is included if you need that.Read more ›

We purchased this unit to help cool the 3rd floor of our townhouse which has been over 82 when the house AC is set to 77. (Temps have been in the high 90s here in Northern Virginia). The unit is fairly quiet given the size. It has carrying handles on the side that made it easy to lug up our 3 flights of stairs. The unit must be vented to the outside to release the heat. The hose was of moderate length and the adapter piece for the window was adequate. We had to cut it to fit our window. We also had to make a trip to Home Depot to purchase insulating foam and tape to help hold it in place and plug the air leaks. We have the unit in a small bedroom and it blows cool air into the hallway, a distance of about 7 feet. As far as water accumulating in the unit, we haven't had much. In our house it's about half full after running it for an entire day. This may change when the humidity comes back. I am very happy we purchased this unit. We have been running it for 5 days and so far I would recommend it.

I highly recommend this seller as well as the product I purchased. This item is even better than I expected. I needed it to cool my rather large, west-facing sunroom, which gets very hot in the afternoon sun due to it's large windows all around. The air conditioner I had before never did the job efficiently, so I simply stopped using the room between noon and sundown. When the old one stopped working altogether, I dreaded the prospect of searching for another only to be disappointed again, and thinking that a replacement capable of doing a better job would be terribly expensive. To my very pleasant surprise, not only was this unit around the same low price, but it's twice as good as the old one was when it was brand new. The service and follow up were excellent, the air conditioner was delivered within a few days after my order and I received an email from the manager within a few more days.

I bought this unit to cool off an extra bedroom with equipment in it. It was shipped lightning fast, but one of the wheels was broken on the bottom. Since they are standard casters, I figured no problem to just replace it myself. I read the reviews first, and was a bit nervous about this unit, but I have had only two issues so far. One being the caster being broken upon arrival, and the second is the "Sway" feature has stopped working and has to be manually manipulated to operate partially. That part sucks, but overall, the cold output from this machine is Insane!! It can cool this bedroom down about 20 degrees within 20-30 minutes, which is very good in my opinion.

I would recommend this unit, but be warned it has been discontinued because of the outdated type of refrigerant it uses. I found that out directly from contacting the manufacturer. I am happy with this purchase even with a few hiccups.

NEVER been disappointed with SUNPENTOWN. 2nd one. Old one (15 yrs) still working and cools. If too hot (80 deg+), perhaps need
higher BTUs. Easy to operate. Other brands ordered but don't have the quality! Remote handy. Automatic cut off when water drip container full. Came from CA in good shape, VERY well-packed and stable inside packing-- UPS was NOT gentle bringing up the steps!

The SPT WA-9000E removes a lot of water in high humidity conditions, and cools a 30x30 space nicely.

Just know that the unit produces a lot of hot air, which is vented to the outdoors using the supplied collapsable duct (think dryer vent, but stiffer). The unit comes supplied with a window adapter thing, but since our house has a crawl space, we just cut a hole in the floor and vented the hot air thru the floor. We cut down the window adapter to fit and screwed the deal into the wood floor of the house....

The unit has a water catch pan, but if the humidity is over 50% the pan needs emptying every 45 minutes. The unit comes with a drain hose, however with the addition of a bit of short garden hose, it can drain out thatta way too. If your house is on a slab, you're outta luck unless there's a floor drain nearby.

The cold air outlet has a set of vanes than can be set to swing back and forth, which is a nice feature.

Hit on electric bill has been less than $10 a month with 6-12 hrs of use daily.

We placed ours adjacent to the main hallway of the house, where the unit can be turned to blow cold air into the kitchen, living room, or hall bathroom. We live in SE New Mexico, during the rainy (and hot) season this A/C is fantastic. It does extract a lot of water from the air in the house. No, we don't have central air conditioning, just a swamp cooler, which is useless when the outside humidity is >35%.

It works so well, the boy bought one of his own to cool his room.
