the first one i had purchased was from a local discount/close out store. it was the main reason i purchased this one for the living room. worthwhile price and this one cools a larger area than my bedroom. Unit appears brand new, the packaging looked new, easy install, looks good, cools well. However it is very noisy and will not stick to low Fan setting so it makes this constant jet like and clicking noise and that makes it unusable. I had to return the unit, it must be defective, otherwise this product should not be sold. I use Midea products and they are built well. Unfortunately I had no luck with this one.

Let me start by saying that it was delivered with the box being crushed on it's side and the bottom re-taped. I already had an assumption that it was going to be broken and hoped that it wasn't used. At first it started to look ok when I opened it until I saw the air duct. The ring of the air duct looked used. I still had hope. I set everything up and then...it didn't work. Specifically, the fan. Then seconds later I kept getting an error.

This was the first time I've ever ordered an appliance from amazon. I don't think I'm willing to risk it again. Amazon did offer me a refund, so I can't be too mad. But I was really disappointed that it was delivered defective before I could review the product itself.

"Hawwwwt. This apartment is too hot. Why is this apartment SO hot," us, every hour, every day, last summer. But not this year. This year things would be different. Gone will be the disgusting sticky hugs shared between my girlfriend and me. No more, will be the sweat-soaked sheets that ensnare our bodies in the middle of a steamy, insipid mid-summer's eve.

PRO
* Easy set-up, taking 30-40 minutes, most of which was ensuring I understood the manual. The manual also includes directions for using this as a de-humidifier
* Cools quickly
* Nice design. Not an unattractive appliance
* The remote is convenient and functions well
* The sleep timer is nice, even if not often used

CONS
* Loud. Understandably, this is a large, 12000 BTU unit, but the constant on/off of the compressor can be disrupt sleep
* The window mount may not fit properly with all windows. We have older windows and had to modify the mount
* Warranty: One year parts & labor. For an appliance like this, a 5-year-warranty should be the base

NEUTRAL
* Obtrusive hose. It's bulky, making
* Price. As of this posting, at $349, Midea has the EasyCool priced almost exactly down the middle of similar models

CONCLUSION
We're still together, my girlfriend and me, comfortably nestled side-by-side, not driven apart by the already unseasonably warm Spring nights. We may just survive this year yet. Cool. Four stars.

Cools great, easy set up without construction, but bulky

It took less than 45 mins to hook this up. It was fairly easy and took only one person (middle-aged woman) to do it. No construction is required. It fits right into a raised window and is easy to adjust to the correct window width without tools. The adhesive padding had to be doubled up because the frame was too deep (inset). The hose is huge and bulky, so the unit sits 10" away from the wall, so the unit takes up a significant space in a small room (see photos).

It cools great, works great, and has a nice design and appearance. But the bulkiness leaves a lot to be desired. The hose should come out of the side instead of the back, so it can get closer to the wall. If it weren't for this, I'd give it 5 stars.

The control pad is clear and easy to use. Also, the remote control is a huge plus but it's a little tricky. It will go to sleep, so you need to hit it twice to get the action required.
