I have just completed reading Attention: People With Body Parts – Parts and Pieces Collected by Lexie Bean ©2012 and also Portable Homes parts and pieces collect by Lexie Bean ©2013.
To say the book(s) are amazing would be a disservice and an understatement. Words cannot describe the intensity in anguish, love, and perseverance that slammed me in heart with every word I read. The names of those who put pen to paper belong to a very special group of people who bring to the world endless hope covered in fields of wild prospect.
These people walk among us and are all too often missed. But if you look, they can be seen in the physical form along with the blood which runs through all our veins that carries with it perfect optimism, staunch resistance to abuse of any kind, and that beautiful struggle found only in adversity.
The authors of these two books are a solitary company of whom are literally responsible for saving our world. What Lexie did was unsurpassed in both tenderness and vision in an unstoppable pursuit of a better world. Those who shared their stories – gave us all more than that. They allowed their hearts to bleed for all to see, judge, cling to; while finding strength and peace.
I am not worthy to be counted among these writers, but only so completely content to be literally be part of this project. Among the pages, one after the other, I grew more amazed. Stepping into the reality of a new and better universe. No fanfare or frills. This is as real as it gets.
Still here are the triumphant brave who are seldom recognized. Often, their only companion, is a weary foot before the other. A private tear, a self-constrained smile. However, to still stand and fight – this is true courage.
I beg you to read these books, if not for the whole world to become one, but for yourself to become whole. With a dejected heart, an historical ascension under the worst of circumstances, destiny lost and found, crawling, walking, running, and finally stepping into a complete understanding as to why we are all here. You will find these answer and more within these two works of artful literature.
A higher consciousness – this is what is written in every single word on every single page.
Long after we sleep forever, there will be these very words left for others to draw valor and see a perfect light surrounding we humans were meant to be.
I have not read something so touching in many years. So visceral. After reading and re-reading each piece I could not help but ask myself “Where do these people come from?” “Of what grace envelops their hearts?”
Accompanied by only a thin layer of skin protecting their souls, the authors of every story tell the absolute truth. The truth we are not alone, but have so much to offer ourselves and one another.
Lexie, along with the contributors to these two books, have performed the impossible. They have pulled together a departed humanity and reminded us we never left one another. WE have never been so strong, so filled with life, and so in love.
You will be absorbed into every story as if it where ‘your’ story, because IT IS.
Thank you Lexie. Thank you contributors (survivors) for returning me to the soil in which all beautiful things grow. One of nobility of the land, body, and soul.
Thank you for showing me that ‘all my body parts’ are still intact when, at times, it felt as if those who have not chosen love – pulled them apart relentlessly.
Because of your wisdom and compassion, I am no longer displaced.
I do not ask you to read these books. Instead I plead with you to do so in order to be there for yourselves; each other; - … and me.
All my love, Gregg Milligan – Dec. 2013.
