I'm an aging professional musician/entertainer who performs in nightclubs, restaurants, hole in the wall dive bars, private parties and the occasional small concert venue. I had an opportunity to perform a variety of live instrumental and vocal music with my duo at a local park for a corporate annual picnic. We were to be paid $250 each. An added incentive for us to overcome the fact that there is no A/C available for bands to use at this particular venue. Zero! - Zilch! - Nada!
After doing much research on YouTube and the web, I was able to determine that RAVPower was one of the leaders in this unique and specialized product category.
Here is a list of the music gear that I had connected to the RAVPower battery pack's A/C connection.
(1) Casio Privia Pro PX-560 88-note piano keyboard with built in speakers
(2) Roland KC-110 Stereo Keyboard Amplifier
(3) BeatBuddy drum pedal
I made sure that RAVPower had a full charge. I plugged a power strip into the A/C inverter on the RAVPower and plugged each of the instruments supplied A/C adapters into the power strip. To save power, I turned off the Casio keyboard and BeatBuddy drum machine during our breaks. While on break, I supplied background music via my iPhone's headphone output jack which was plugged into the KC-110 amplifier's Aux input. Even though the unit has an internal cooling fan, I placed the RAVPower in the shade so it wouldn't get too warm in the sun.
The RAVPower RP-PB055 provided power for over 4 hours and 30 minutes before displaying a single LED which represents between 11% and 1% power remaining.
After I disconnected all of the gear listed above, I was still able able to charge my iPhone 6s Plus starting from approximately 33% to a full 100% Wow!
I'm very satisfied with this killer portable power solution. When using the supplied A/C charger, the RAVPower fully juices it's internal batteries in less than three (3) hours.
I spoke with a representative of RAVPower last week and they said that if one calls Amazon, one can request that the RAVPower unit be pulled from “newer stock” as they’ve made slight changes in the design. i.e. A built in three prong A/C outlet instead of what I received which requires using a supplied adapter which you can then plug grounded plugs into. I’m very happy with my RAVPower purchase but, if I were to order another one, I’d probably make the call to Amazon.
Note: A special thanks goes out to PianoManChuck on YouTube for his wonderful keyboard reviews, some of which mention RAVPower as a good option for musicians who may be A/C challenged when playing in certain locations.
Comes with a charger (see photos). I really wished that RAVPower made this thing be able to charge from it's USB Type-C port so that way I can bring one less cable (since my phone charges with a USB Type-C cable). But this was a major bummer when I tried this out.
None the less, so far so good, works just like a trusty USB battery and can charge laptops. Charges my Macbook Pro 13 inch 2014 fine with a 45 Watt charger so far.
Anyways just wanted to let out the comment about the Type-C port. Enjoy the photos!
Let me know if you guys have any other questions, comments, or requests.
possibly the negative reviews are from people trying to charge things that are too strong to charge. Ravpower doesn't suggest charging something over 100 watts. Mine might be big and bulky but I got it for Home use when power goes out. sometimes power has gone out for 12 hours or more during storms. it's not too heavy to travel with if I wanted to plus it comes with a nice hard case. some reviewers say the ac plug (3 prong one) doesn't work. It works for me and used it several times.
