The stylish Portare' PMB1 multi use Messenger bags have the ability to transform from a camera bag, to an office bag, to an overnighter. So whether you’re going on a photo walk, hopping between coasts, heading to the beach/mountains or taking your glass with you on a bike ride, this is all the bag you will need. Your gear is cushioned & protected by the unique Portare’ Insert (PIN1-G). The insert is large (14.5 x 8 x 4 Inches) & is generously cushioned on ALL sides. Its movable dividers & extra deep design allow for infinite configurations to safely carry most lenses & accessories & DSLR bodies w/attached lenses. Unlike other inserts, it zips up completely so you can use it by itself; to free up the messenger bag or convert any other bag in a gear carrier (some say its 2 bags for the price of 1). The Portare’ PMB1 has a cushioned laptop pocket (16 x 10 x 1.5 Inches) & padded iPad /tablet pocket to carry both at the same time, why chose? It’s made from a heavy duty canvas treated with a special process, to make it impervious to liquids. The raised sides of the bag also protect against dust/dirt & liquids. The shoulder strap is made from the same soft yet incredibly strong belting as seatbelts & the stylish leather shoulder pad makes it even more comfortable. Tripods can be carried by the removable straps on the bottom. The front pocket has special slots for memory cards, pens, business cards etc. The inside has three more zippered mesh pockets. The back pocket unzips from top & bottom to allow the bag to be safely attached to the handle of a rolling bag. The special strap inside secures the bag onto the carry handle preventing sliding while you bustle across airports. A hidden lens cap pocket on the back of the bag allows you to shoot without removing your bag & never losing lens caps. Finally, the bag is dripping with genuine leather trims, aged metal fittings & discreet branding so make it look like you spent multiples of what you’re actually going to spend.

My only problems occur when I overpack the bag, as there are times when it becomes very hard to snap the clasps closed. Also, the bag can become quite bulky, so when I am carrying my laptop along with camera gear, I have to be careful to not swing it around and hit people/obstacles when I walk. It can become heavy and tiring on the shoulders, because there is not a whole lot of cushion on the shoulder area of the strap. However, the zippered pouch on the back allows the bag to slip onto the handles of a rolling suitcase for ease of carrying along in the airport. I've also tried using the straps below the bag for carrying my tripod, but they were a bit too slick and the tripod kept slipping back and forth, which rendered that functionality somewhat useless (seemed like a nice idea though). Overall it has proven to be a great product that has continued to serve me well after several international trips and many weekend getaways. I would recommend it for someone who is looking for a way to protect and carry all of their gear in one bag-- laptop/tablet/DSLR/spare lenses. Just make sure to swing it around in front of you and hold it closed shut when using crowded subways/buses to avoid any theft.
Sorry, there is no excuse for turning out a product this shabbily made for $130.
UPDATE: After a month of light use (e.g. going back and forth to the office) and no manual modifications on my part, the latch base has partially broken off from the base of the bag. The construction and quality of materials for the metal latch and base are poor. Everything else about the bag is solid and appears to be very durable.
Overall the bag is ok and I agree with the positive comments stated up to this point in time. My one concern is that the metal latches are not very strong and can become loose somewhat easily. This appears to be more of a flaw in the design than a problem with the specific bag.
