About the Author

Jen lives in Portland with her imaginary mini bulldog and a lot of leftovers. Her hobbies include browsing grocery stores and farmers markets, experimenting with recipes involving melted chocolate and lots of it, reading The Onion, taking pictures of pocket ninjas, trying new cavas, and thinking about lunch. She has been a cook, food stylist, dessert caterer, and teacher, but these days, she writes about all the best things to eat and drink in Portland and beyond, for various media outlets and on her website, underthetablewithjen.com. She also runs wordcake.com.

I met Jen at the Portland Winter Farmer's Market at a cheese stand. She discovered we were new in town and gave me her book. It has become my "food bible." It's set up in an easy to find way with maps with the locations marked. She even recommends what to order. We have used it 5 times since we got it about a month ago and she hasn't been wrong yet. I'm ordering stuff I wouldn't usually order and it's all been yummy. Best restaurant guide book I've ever received!!

Format: Perfect Paperback
Every Friday night that I'm home in Portland—and often a few other nights during the week as well—I rack my brain over the eternal question: "Where's dinner?" With the publication of "100 Best Places," the process has now become a lot easier. Over the past ten years I've spent a lot of time and money on visiting every country in the world. Perhaps I need a new goal: to visit every PDX restaurant that Jen chronicles in this beautiful, accessible book.
