Acclaimed Artist Susan Winget designed "A Christmas Story" in 1995. It is the first and only introduction of the famous poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Clement C. Moore on fine porcelain tableware and accessories with complimenting glassware and woodware products. Each piece features a different scene and storyline from this famous poem. Over the years this delightful table service has become one of the most collectible series of holiday tableware in the marketplace. "A Christmas Story" will continue to expand each year with the introduction of additional porcelain pieces reflecting more of the story line. This pattern has and will continue to be a treasured collectible series to be passed down thru the generations.
The colorful, detailed scenes on Portmeirion's A Christmas Story dinnerware illustrate the famous poem by Clement C. Moore that begins with the line, "Twas the night before Christmas..." The two oblong baking dishes in this set were released in 2006. Each shows a scene with a line from the poem, on a white background. With a handle at each end for carrying when hot, the dishes may be used to bake desserts or small casseroles, or make excellent serving dishes for vegetables.
Designed by American artist Susan Winget, A Christmas Story is one of Portmeirion's most endearing patterns, comprising an extensive array of dinnerware, bakeware, specialty serving pieces, and accessories. Made of fine white porcelain, the items in this set are safe for placing in a cool oven and bringing up to temperature, as well as the microwave and dishwasher. --Ann Bieri
