About the Author

Dr. Brad Evans is a political philosopher, critical theorist and writer, whose work specialises on the problem of violence. The author of some ten books and edited volumes, along with over forty academic and media articles, he currently serves as a senior lecturer at the School of Sociology, Politics & International Studies, the University of Bristol, UK.

His co-directed movie "Ten Years of Terror" received international acclaim, screening in the Solomon K. Guggenheim museum, New York during September 2011. Brad has recently been a visiting fellow at the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University, New York (2013-14). He regularly writes for prominent news sources such as The New York Times, LA Review of Books, The Guardian, Independent, World Financial Review, Al Jazeera, TruthOut, Counter-Punch and Social Europe.

Sean Michael Wilson is a graphic novel writer from Scotland. His books are often on themes of history, biography and social issues. He has more than 20 books with a variety of US, UK and Japanese publishers, including: AX:alternative manga ( 'Best ten books of 2010', Publishers Weekly), Parecomic (intro by Noam Chomsky, his first contribution to a graphic novel), Fight the Power! A Visual History of Protest Amongst the English Speaking Peoples' (intro by Tariq Ali) Portraits of Violence, with Dr Brad Evans (intro by Henry Giroux), The Book of Five Rings, Hagakure and The 47 Ronin. In 2016 his book 'The Faceless Ghost' was nominated for the prestigious Eisner Book Awards, and received a medal in the 2016 'Independent Publisher Book Awards'. In 2017, his book Secrets of the Ninja won an International Manga Award from the Japanese government - he is the first British person to receive this award.

Featuring artwork by a diverse team of male and female artists from various countries: Scottish artist Chris Mackenzie, Japanese artists Inko and Michiru Morikawa, US artist Carl Thompson, Vietnamese artist Yen Quach, and English artist Robert Brown.
