About the Author

Tawdra Kandle writes romance, in just about all its forms. She loves unlikely pairings, strong women, sexy guys, hot love scenes and just enough conflict to make it interesting. Her books run from YA paranormal romance (THE KING SERIES), through NA paranormal and contemporary romance (THE SERENDIPITY DUET, PERFECT DISH DUO, THE ONE TRILOGY) to adult contemporary and paramystery romance (CRYSTAL COVE BOOKS and RECIPE FOR DEATH SERIES). She lives in central Florida with a husband, kids, sweet pup and too many cats. And yeah, she rocks purple hair.

From the moment I heard about this book I knew I had to read it. This is the kind of love story I love to love. The characters are real and its not your everyday romance novel. Jude in a lot of ways reminded me of my mom with her inner strength and poise. She's a mature, tough, graceful, beautiful woman coping with a life she hadn't planned. I loved "watching" her interact with her kids, her friends, her family, her customers - I stress "watching" because I felt like I was there, a voyeur in the room for each episode.

Oh and, the Posse... whew... who wouldn't love to have a group of good looking guys as some of your closest friends? And then when three of them agreed to try their hands at love with her, I couldn't imagine how tough that decision would be for her. I thought Kandle did a great job weaving the story, even with so many characters to keep track of. The personalities were all well-developed and individual.

I think my favorite scene, by far, was the slow dance scene to the song "Crazy For You"... ahhh, what a great song. I just love the 80s... but I digress. The sensuality and emotion played in that scene between Jude and her suitor was so intense I felt just like a girl in love right alongside Jude. Even as I continued reading, my mind would sweep back to that scene, hoping and anticipating the next meeting of those two lovers...

The opening of the story went a little too quickly for me. I wish the author would have slowed it down a tad and shown a little more of the men's behavior, especially the hero's. As it was, it felt a little contrived and superficial. That said, I'm glad I kept reading.

There was a little too much telling for my taste--some of the exposition could/should have been turned into showing--but the story was well-paced and enjoyable. It was by no means slow or draggy. However, the conflict I expected never happened. in fact, there was not much true conflict between the leads at all. So if you're looking for a feel-good, comfortable romance, this is for you. If you're looking for intense conflict and high stakes, not so much.

I received this book for a fair and honest review. I was very eager to read this book since it's by one of my favorite authors.

I fell in love with this book instantly. I was sucked into the story and didn't want to do anything but read to find out what happens next. I'm a romantic at heart. I love to read romance novels. That being said, I only like ones that you can see happening in real life. I don't like the cheesy romance novels that make all men in a sex symbol.

I found myself very early on rooting for a particular Posse member. I don't know why... I just found myself drawn to him. I'm not going to say who that person is...if you've read the book and want to know feel free to PM me. :)
This book would make a great book club read.

I'm sure a lot of people felt like Jude did at first. You lose your spouse and you don't want to even think about dating again. I don't think our loved one would want us to be lonely and alone. I think they would want us to move on when we are ready and to love again.

I received this as an ARC.

What an amazing story! I loved Tawdra Kandle's King Series and was surprised when I learned that she was going to write a contemporary romance novel. This story will have you thinking about you would expect to happen to you if your significant other passed away. Jude's husband Daniel, a man that she loved from childhood and had never thought to see anyone else as a potential suitor, died of cancer a year before this book takes place. These two were your picture of to people who were always meant to be, but now she has to learn to live without him. Thankfully, his group of friends, which had become hers as well, step up to make sure she's ok. She never expected though that the unmarried ones would take that to mean that they should try to take care of her in more ways than friendship. The Posse, as they called their group, made a deal to try to woo Jude and see if anyone would be a suitable fit for her as a companion, possibly even lover. The first half of the story is about their attempts at figuring out if anyone can actually think of Jude as more than their best friend's widow or as a sister. The second half will have you grinning and crying from the obstacles that face Jude and her friends. It's such a touching story that I couldn't put it down. It's extremely believable. Honestly, I can only hope that my friends (or my husband's) would be so nice as to think of me like the Posse thought of Jude. We actually have a group of friends like the one in the book, so it's possible that it could happen. That just made this book touch home even more for me. I loved it.

This is everything you want in as contemporary romance and more. I loved this story, it has so much heart to it. I have to say a few tears were shed while reading. The main character was great and I loved the idea of a group guy of friends trying to take care of their own. Its funny sometimes how much fate and second chances can play into peoples lives and what people will do for love. Setting aside the feelings you have for the person you love for 30 plus years and still being a tight nit "family". I can't wait to see what the author will write next.
