"It's rare to come across a series that is so unputdownable, but the conflict of morals versus feelings in the Explicitly Yours Series is all-consuming. Hawkins writes forbidden romance with a gripping intensity that flows from the pages. She keeps the reader not only invested, but hoping the characters do the morally wrong thing because even though it's wrong, it's so right...and so hot. The sex is off the charts, the struggles are real, and Beau is one sexy alpha."--Author Lisa Suzanne
"This is what Jessica does. She creates astory so compelling that overwhelms you and takes you for the ride of yourlife. It changes you and what you believe. It shakes you to the core."--Mia's Point of View
"From the first sentence, this book had aslow burn that gradually increased until the ending where it was a raginginferno and it felt like my heart might beat right out of my chest...If I could give this book more than 5 stars, Iwould."--A Risqué Affair Book Blog
"An indecent proposal, an offer she's not sure if she should refuse, or if she wants to...this story gets in your head and makes you question where you thought you stood on certain topics. Jessica Hawkins drags you into this angsty tale and the lives of these characters to such an extent that you are right there living their story with them. We loved it, and we're still holding out hope for more!"--Romance Readers Retreat Book Blog

Besides all the character flaws this was actually well written grammatically, otherwise this one is a definite pass. The next book hopefully will reveal why he is the way he is or something like that to make sense of this bit of craziness. Oh and why is she putting up with his mood swings? A money buys a lot but he should at least uphold common decency.
I just personally couldn't get over Lola agreeing to being with Beau for one night. He was so rude and demeaning no matter how the author tried to make him seem like the good guy. Beau used Lola & Johnny situation against them for his own selfish purpose and wasn't apologetic about it whatsoever. Lola & Johnny are a couple stuck in life and instead of just working together and figure out what they want they agree to Beau bold request and of course Johnny image is tainted to make Beau look not so bad but in actuality, Beau is the worst. I wish the author made Johnny a cheating jerk or something to make me okay with what happens between Lola and Beau but she didn't so I don't. I get so infuriated when I think about Beau and then get really upset that Lola basically wants him even after the way he uses her and her and Johnny situation so he can sleep with her. I can go on and on about my extreme dislike for Beau and Lola but I'll let you form your own opinion.
Lola and Johnny have been in a committed relationship for quite some time, they both work at Hey Joe, a once trendy bar on the sunset strip. Johnny’s dream is to one day own a bar, but lacks the motivation to accomplish this dream. They both live paycheck to paycheck, not able to enjoy any fine things in life.
Lola meets Beau on the side walk outside Hey Joe. She is instantly drawn to him and his “movie-star good looks”. He looks out of place in this part of town but they are both captivated by each other. As the night comes to an end and the bar is closing, Johnny and Lola are offered a deal they can’t possibly turn away from. Beau wants own and command Lola for 1 night, and in return Johnny’s dream would come true.
If you are having second thoughts about reading this book, I say just get past the first couple of chapters, I promise this book will have you hooked. I have finished book 2 (Domination) and just begun reading Book 3 (Provocation), these books will grip and own you to a point that you will have an extremely hard time putting them down!
Lola and her boyfriend, Johnny, have been running the bar Hey Joe together for several years. Hey Joe used to be a popular spot for live music and fun, but over the years it has settled in to being just another dive bar with the same small crowd of regulars every night. One day, Beau walks in to talk business with a couple of guys, and before the night is over, has made a play for Lola – an offer of half a million dollars for a night with her. Anything he wants from sundown to sunup. Lola knows it may be the only way to save Hey Joe, even though Johnny wants nothing to do with the offer. With this money though, they could buy the bar themselves and turn it back in to what it had been in the past – a destination for live music, keeping traditions alive.
OK, so, if you peeked, you know that there are 3 more books involving Beau and Lola – I am not going to give spoilers beyond what I’ve already said, but it’s clear that Lola takes Beau up on his offer. If you want to know more about what happens with Johnny, Hey Joe, and a $500,000 night, you are going to have to read this yourself!!
I really enjoyed this book, however, my Kindle copy had some serious issues. Every 5-8 pages I would get a page that wouldn’t load, and that seriously took away from the story. It not only took me out of the moment, but I missed A LOT of story and character development. I am hoping that the next 3 don’t have this issue, or I may not finish the series. It could have just been a download issue on my end, but nothing I have done has been able to fix it.

I love that Lola took the deal but hate that Johnny didn't try to stop her. I hate that he lied about the business card. I hate that his inability to accept change put a money value on the woman he's supposed to love. And I hate that he doesn't notice or doesn't want to notice that working behind the bar isn't what she wants.
Lola I love. I really enjoyed the pieces of information we got about her life, I'm eager to get to know her better. I hope she figures out where she wants to be. I don't think it's at the bar with Johnny and I don't think she loves him, maybe she does but for me I think she see's someone loyal, someone who'll always be there and I think she loves that more than the man himself.
Beau's hot and cold can be confusing but I think she disarmed him the moment they met and he's trying his best to be 'himself'. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Personally I hope she leaves Johnny be so he can continue to wait for something good to pass while she gets her fill of Beau, but not for the money or for Johnny but for herself.
Under the shadow of unemployment, Beau Olivier walks into the bar and turns Lola's world upside down. He will give the couple 1 million dollars if Lola will spend the night with him.
There are many of these types of books available. Whilst enjoyable, there is nothing outstanding about the plot. I don't really feel the need to carry on with the series. So until next time, enjoy peeps 😉
Definitely worth reading as the characters, dialogue and storyline was first class. I really enjoyed it and my only negative is I it ended far too soon.
But the light at the end of the tunnel is there's a book two... Will I buy it, darn tooting I will!
