And yes, part 2 of 3 also ends in a cliffhanger, BUT it's almost like a soap opera or a season finale the way it ends and it leaves you going, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" and then you HAVE to open Book 3 because it just can't end like that!
So, if you haven't already, I would HIGHLY recommend getting Book 3 before starting Book 2 just because you will hate yourself otherwise LOL!
In the end, I hope you agree that it's a wonderful love story, one of a couple of broken people finding each other in this great big world and helping each other heal.
I loved the continued passion in this story between Kat and Sloane. This story picks up right where book one left off - at the three day hiatus. I can't wait for book 3 to see how the story ends! And now a bit about the stories...
Background: Kat is the rich kid turned scared of the world, but who has stepped out of her parents shoes and opened a successful bakery. If only she could get over the panic attacks. This is where Sloane comes in, billionaire owner of SLAM Inc - a fitness and training center chain across the US. In exchange for becoming his plus one, he will train her to overcome her panic attacks.
Book 2: Kat starts getting closer to Sloane, spending time in his home, meeting his mentor, and breaking down his barriers. He is doing the same thing and she is getting braver and having less panic attacks. But he is worried she will leave him when he carries out his mission. Give this book a try to find out what his mission is... Would you leave him? I sure wouldn't!
Favorite Passage: She put her hand on his face. "But I lived to break up with him. I found what I love." His heart stopped beating. Even his blood froze. "Sugar Dancer is everything to me. And I'm going to build it into something bigger. Better." Her bakery. She loved her bakery. Not him. What the hell was wrong with him? Jet lag. That's all it was. So why wasn't he more relieved? Damn, he must really be jet-lagged.
Can't wait for the ending in book 3!
This book pretty much continues where proposition ended. I just felt that there were just meaningless conversations in this book that could have been cut out and there were also repeated emotional scenes like; Hero starts to form feelings for the heroine, but squashes them down, yet treats her like the love of his life and vice versa. These scenes just start to get tiresome... understandable that they've both been through a ruff patch in their lives, but it felt like that they just kept repeating their mantra - "I think I love her/him, but I can't let my feelings go there".. yada yada.. *rolls eyes*
So in other words, this book; Sloan and Kat are still trying to figure out if they love other (no major change there from the first book) and Sloan is still plotting his vengeance. The bonus's you get in this book are the sex scenes, they're pretty hot and the added characters are just lovable!!
Overall the story was great and well developed and I am anticipating book three. I just hope the third book doesn't just abruptly end like the first two books...
Kat really grows here and is taking control of her life. It's great to watch unfold. She even tells Sloane of a fantasy she has but is afraid to follow through with. She eventually trusts him enough to explore the fantasy. And both realize that things have gotten out of hand - oops a relationship ;).
Kat's brother Marshall turns out to be more than we expected and we also get to know Drake a bit more as well as Sloane's associates.
At the conclusion of this second of the trilogy we meet Olivia (Sloane's mother). What a piece of work. Meeting her leaves us hanging on for THE OBSESSION. I can't wait!
