Cons: 1. NO FUEL GAUGE! Or visible window on tank, no nothing. Really? I bought & installed a gas cap gas gauge (look for a 2-1/4” dia. opening, 10-1/2-11” depth). Plus the tank is under the hood instead of under the seat, so you have to wait until it cools off before refilling tank. 2. Deck shuts off when in reverse (not Poulan’s fault, apparently it’s a law now). There is a key switch position to bypass this “safety feature”, but I never remembered until the first time I went in reverse, which is not only annoying, but it scares the crap out of you when deck shuts off then restarts when you leave off the reverse pedal!! . So, I cut the wire to bypass this permanently (the yellow wire at the key switch terminal A2). 3. As with any belly mower tractor that has a deck much wider than the tire track width, it gets hung up on even the slightest dip, ditch, or rolling terrain (especially with that chute!) – you have to approach it at a 90 degree angle. 4. Reverse is pathetically slow at 1mph. I want as fast in reverse as in forward! 5. Plastic discharge chute on deck is RIDICULOUSLY long, I cut off 8” following the molded curve on the chute, which still leaves most of it on there, and it works fine (I can now mow around trees on that side). 6. Not enough lift on deck for traveling without guide wheels touching ground constantly on one side or the other. 7. No cruise control, you have to keep your foot on the pedal.
Other: I bought a standard Husqvarna front bumper, painted it yellow to match wheels & deck, and it mounted right on no problem - looks great!. I am thinking of adding a cruise control by buying Husqvarna parts, since they will bolt right in. Maybe another cup holder, too.
Overall: For the price, this is a very, very nice mower with only a few quirks (most of which are gov't safety mandated issues, the rest seem to be cost-cutting issues). I've hit tall wet grass and it never bogged down or slipped belts. It turns tightly. It's wide, fast, quiet, powerful, lawn mower while looking pretty cool.
you have to transport a 700 lb mower for repair .My 1994 Craftsman GT 6000 is still running with
one starter change in 22 years .LOL
On the downside, mine came with several mounting components for the deck missing, so I had to run to lowes and buy them. Amazon reimbursed me, so no problem!
Will update if it doesnt hold up....
