I have owned this saw for three years and use it for cutting about eight cords of firewood a year. It is a very reliable saw and easy to maintain. Chains are very resonable. You can buy a 2 pack at Lowes for about $32.00 Air filters and fuel filters are very cheap to replace. It is best to either add fuel additive or drain the gas out of the saw when not in use because the ethanol in modern gas will swell up the gas cap and it is hard to screw on and off. Fuel additive easily solves the problem. The saw is also very light and easy to use for hours on end without making your arms tired. I have wanted to buy a more expensive saw but this one is so good, I don't plan replacing it with anything. Would recommend it to anyone.

I love this saw. I have owned this for a few weeks, and have put it through heavy work every day of the weeks cutting down 2, 16" hickory trees. I treat this saw just like I would treat a Husqvarna. There has been some debate on these saws seizing up after a few tanks of gas. And after a lot of research, and diagnosing my own saw, I found the reason for this is that Poulan sends some of these saws out of the factory running too lean (too much air in the gas mixture) a lazy error on their part, but because it's not getting enough gas, or oil, this can burn up the saw. My recommendation, as a small engine mechanic, is to pick up a splined carburetor adjusting tool. They run $8 on amazon, and after watching a few YouTube videos on how to adjust a chainsaw carb, you will be glad you brought it. The other thing I recommend doing, is running a high oil content in your gas for the first gallon or so. I ran 28:1 oil mix in my Poulan pro pp4218a for the girl gallon, and them switched to the recommended 40:1. Just make sure after you do this that you clean the spark plug, and muffler, to get rid of any carbon deposits (mine had none after a gallon of gas) this ensures that your cylinder wears in as slow as possible, and prolongs your saws life. If you do the things I mentioned, your saw will last you forever (probably not as a professional logger) I will say, this saw is very nice. Always starts 4 pulls cold, and 1-2 hot. Never skips a beat once the carb is dialed in properly. I love the anti vibration system on this saw as well. Like I said, I treat this saw as if it is equivalent to a $500 Husqvarna. I know it's not the same, but Poulan pro is made my Husqvarna (mine even has a Husqvarna spark plug) and either way, it's all plastic and metal. Take care of your things, and they will last you.

I bought it to replace a 20 year old 16 inch Craftman made by Poulan. I've only used it three times so far to cut up a major limb off an oak tree. It starts easy and I have no complaints. Came with case, extra chain, a pair of gloves and a combo wrench for chain adjustment and spark plug.

I am getting tired of so many uninformed reviews, not just here but on most sites. Amazon is better than most. This chainsaw is very good! Guess what kind of engine it has? A Husqvarna 42cc ... enough said. But I will continue. This is a steal in my way of thinking. The tough molded case goes for $49 from another brand. Comes with an extra chain. they even give you some Oil to start with. Now for the saw. RTFM first and foremost. It is that simple and things will go much easier. This thing started with 4 pulls, 3 chocked and 1 regular. Idled great and then warmed up. Started cutting trees soon after. Cut like butter and I mean melted butter! Oh and it it weighs 11.9 pounds ...perfect! I wonder what chainsaw some people are using that have such low reviews??? I think they might have gotten a lemon or did not RTFM or worse yet work for another brand... If you are not cutting a forest down just go buy this one. If it breaks in 5 or 10 years use the money you saved to invest compounded with interest and go on a trip somewhere. :)

I recently purchased this saw from home depot and have been very satisfied with it. It started up the first time using it and did a great job getting rid of the stupid juniper bushes that the people before us thought were a great idea.

Anyway, as for the saw, it is easy to handle, starts reliably, idles nice, cuts really well and comes with a nice case. Don't forget to buy chain and bar oil when you purchase as it does not come with any. It does come with the 2 stroke oil, enough for the mixture of 1 gallon of fuel. The only thing I have to complain about is when just holding the top handle and not the trigger handle, the trigger handle vibrates like crazy and makes significant rattling noises. Not a big deal functionally, but has the feeling of cheapness even though I don't think it is that cheaply made. My guess is almost any saw will have some amount of rattle to it, but I'm not expert.

Overall, I highly recommend this saw if you are on a budget.

We will see how it holds up in time.

I purchased this chainsaw to cleanup some small trees and limbs. While reading the previous reviews of the product it seemed to have issues with ethanol fuel additive. So I purchased ethanol free fuel and everything is working well from start up through cutting. I have used this saw for just a short time and will follow up if problems develop within a 1 year period. Otherwise I am happy with the chainsaw!
