The nice thing is it is assembled. It is multi choice so one can mulch or discharge on side. A cover comes with the mower to quickly change into side discharge. The mulching cover is already attached. I perfer to mulch my grass. Leaves a cleaner appearance of the lawn.
I will be 71 in October this year and I did not have any trouble with the directions. I had it ready to mow within 30 minutes and I am very pleased with the quality of the deck and the over-all quality of the mower.
One can't go wrong for the quality or price of this mower.
Another perk, it was shipped free to my house and within 6 days. How great is that?
No other place to shop for quality products and shipping ease.
Thank you Amazon and continue the excellent customer service and products availibility.
But I am glad I looked around and got this one.
Once I unfolded the handles, I filled up with the supplied oil, gas, and it started right up on first pull, it has auto choke. It takes very little effort to pull the string. I am fairly confident just about anyone should be able to start this (so please keep out of reach of children!)
I was expecting the B&S engine to be loud but it is actually below the noise level I expected from a lawn mower, I was very surprised.
No unpleasant fumes, the height has 5 levels that is really simple to adjust compare to 3 levels found on some entry level mowers. I think it isn't necessary need to be the same notch front to back, it's better to measure to get the deck level.
Just to make sure, I stopped a couple times and the hot start also started one first pull.
I am using the mulch configuration which chops up the clipping very fine and return the clipping to the soil, less fertilizer is needed this way. The side discharge chute simply clips on without tooks if needed. The manual seem to not match the machine very well, but everything is simple to figure out.
Edit: I haven't even had the mower for six months. I had a root, one root, and took it in when it started vibrating right afterwards. Expected a bent blade. Turns out the crankshaft is bent so badly that it is a total loss. I never had a problem remotely like this in all the time I owned my craftsman.lesson learned, just because they look alike, doesn't mean that they have the same stuff inside. This thing is a cheap piece of junk compared to my last one.
