"a Pound of Flesh" was my literary introduction to Kimberly Raiser.

I was prompted to take the leap into her twisted world because of the stark beauty of the cover, and the other rave reviews.
At ninety-nine cents, I figured that even if I hated the story I couldn't go wrong.

Well you know what?

I LOVED it.

It's a quick read--Raiser sells this as a shortie--but even beyond its length Raiser wrote "a Pound of FLesh" as a gripping, nail-biting, race to the finish.

And what a finish it is!

I'm not going to say anything, because I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just leave it at this:

You'll never see the end coming.
Not in a million years.

Incredible short... You'll never know where this pleasantly written story is headed. Kimberly Raiser had me guessing what's going to happen(on every page), and in the end I was wrong by a long-shot. Her charactor, Tracy, is in for the ride of her life... Who, what, when, where, why and how; this story is fasinating, creepy, sheer torture. What I didn't expect to be in the story would be a spoiler to say in a review... You must read it for yourself and see what the rest of us are talking about. You'll be shocked more than Tracy to find out.

For a short read, this one had me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was watching an old Twilight Zone episode, not knowing where the next scene was going to take me next. Rod Serling could have used this one in his series. This was a good one.

Was drawn into this story on the first page. Liked what little I readed, but it just stops? It is like she just never finished it and they just published the little that she wrote? I do hope that one day she decides to finish it, as I believe that it does have the potential to be a good read!

This is the working of a really creative mind. The scant details given based from someone with reduced senses due to captor build tension well. While some of the imagery was vague, there was still an underlying sense of tension for inability of character to see or hear or know things they were trying to surmise based on what little input was available to her. And some of the imagery was quite vivid allowing that vague (in some parts) may have been author intent.

This is a story of a woman who had (prior) made a wish or a pact. This is a tale of "careful what you wish for..."

I will read something longer by author and recommend her.

Great book, yes its short but right to the point and kept me wondering how it could possibly end. I loved the ending.. wow did not expect that! I'd love to see similar short stories of each person in the group to see what happens.

I would have definitely read this in one sitting if it was a full length novel. The shortness of it left me wanting more! I am not saying more because I don't want to give anything away. It's a good read.

Kimberly Raiser's "A Pound of Flesh" sneaks up on you for the first two thirds of the story before unleashing its master plot. The only complaint would be that, once the cat's out of the bag, you're left wanting to know more details that what's actually appears. By then, however, it's too late, and Ms. Raiser gracefully takes her bow and exits the stage. A diabolically clever if short little read.
