I believe this is the first self-help or personal growth and development book I have read that is in the form of a parable. Storytelling is a great way to share wisdom and this story is certainly no different.
The central figure in the story is a young woman, who, as the story begins, finds herself unemployed and unhappy with her lot in life. The story revolves around her journey and the people she meets during her journey, as she seeks to determine her life’s path, or what the book calls her AHA life – Authentic, Happy and Aligned life. The AHA life is based on five principles or keys as they are called in the book. Each person in the story shares one of the AHA keys with the young woman.
I found the book to be a quick, easy, as well as engaging read. The story was delightful too.
If you like to read in the self-help, self-development genre, I think you will enjoy this book. If this is your first self-help, self-development book, it will be a great one to start with. If you read a lot of self-help, self-development, you may have found already that reading these types of books can become quite monotonous after a while. This parable will give you a fresh perspective to work from.
If there is a weakness in the book, I would say it lies in the description and discussion surrounding the MindView Board in Key #3. Personally, I don’t think a big enough distinction is made between a MindView Board and a vision board.
Life is a journey that provides us with continuous opportunities for growth and learning. You can definitely grow and learn by reading this wonderful parable.
I was given a complimentary copy and I’m happy to leave this review.
Andrea is a pretty good storyteller who will only get better with additional "practice".
