I would recommend it to any one before they buy a boat so they can grasp what are the responsibilities of being the captain of even a small vessel .
I learned a few things, and I appreciate that, but this book is quite oriented towards smaller power boats. Sailing is not covered, and little is said about larger, non-trailered boats. (Of course that would be Yaching for Dummies, a wonderful title with a wide readership.)
So quite thing for the absolute beginner or someone who is just in the daydreaming stage. A little basic for those who have had a boat for a year or two.
