Works well. Pure sine is the way to go.
The cooling fan does not kick in untill the load causes the inverter to heat up.
Under the load I have used so far, has not been enough to heat it up any at all.
It is a a lot heavier and 3 times larger than my 800 watt modified sin wave Black and decker inverter but, I mounted it so it is not an issue at all. I am satisfied with this item. Works well.
I tied it to a solar array with battery.
Old review of 4/26/2014 (no longer valid) --> This is one awesome inverter! I shopped and I shopped online for an inverter and finally chose this one. I have been using it for about a month now and so far, so good. Usually, I am running something like a variable speed power drill with it, and it works great. I tested it with audio gear and it's pretty noise free. Practically the whole case is a big heat sink. And it has a fan. But so far it has never gotten warm enough for the fan to come on. Seems like a very well made unit.
Be sure to buy the right gauge cable. A minimum of AWG 4 is required even for a short 24" run. The manual provides detailed instructions and accurate advice. You can download it from PowerBright's website.
If you buy a battery be sure to research the benefits of a AGM deep cycle battery, they are much safer compared to flood batteries. I recommend no less than 80Ah.
If you plan to run it from your car please consult an automotive electrician.
