The handle is bigger than I expected but since I'm 6'4" tall and 250 pounds, I have big hands and it fits my grip pretty well. The blade was pretty sharp when I got it and only needed a little touching up to get it to shave my arm. The Blade also appears to be made from high quality carbon steel instead of the usual cheap stainless steel from China that knives in this price range are usually made from. And guess what! It DOES NOT SAY MADE IN CHINA on it anywhere! It even has a USA patent number on it! That alone makes it worth buying. Finding a knife of this quality that's made in the USA at this price is a real find. If you are a person that likes knives, especially unusual ones, then you have to get one of these. If you are looking for a good blade for rough use that won't cost you a lot, then get one of these. If you are a collector of knives and don't have one with this double lever gear drive extension system, then you need to get one of these. And if you are just looking for a good work knife for a fair price, then get one of these.
I did the little video showing how this knife opens and closes after I wrote the above review. I hope the video shows better what I was trying to describe.
The blade does not come as sharp as most of my other knives such as Kershaws, Benchmade, SOG, but then this is a $10-1$15 knife. Sharpen it or go get it sharpen. The opening and closing of a paratrooper is fun, not meant for fast deployment in any sense, but it's cool and fun. practice opening and closing in a swift movement and you you be able to do it fairly quickly without it being stuck mid point.
