As you'll see from the original review that appears below, I recommended Power Grip for people with arthritis and/or week hands. That's because I still own the original Power Grips from over a decade ago. I now have today's version that arrived a few days ago. Perhaps because they're new, I find the straps stiffer and not as easy to adjust. That may change after repeated use. However, the release/tension button on the larger Power Grip requires too much force for my arthritic hands and I doubt that I'll use it much, but the smaller unit's button is easier to push. However, people who don't have problems with their hands will find Power Grips excellent tools for loosening or tightening diverse items: lids and caps, plumbing, car filters, etc., and I continue to give Power Grip five stars. For people with moderate hand problems, you'll find these good or adequate. People with severe weakness and stiffness, keep looking because this tool may not solve your problem, which can be remedied if the manufacturers loosen the tension on the release button, made the straps from a more flexible rubber, and gave each strap about a quarter inch play within the handle.
If you plan to give these as gifts, its box doesn't have the best adhesive. Two of the three packs that I purchased arrived totally unglued. A few drops of good glue, something that works well on glossy surfaces, may remedy that.
The Power Grip Jar Opening System is basically a strap wrench. I have arthritis and I recommend this product for people with weak, small hands who suffer from arthritis. I've been looking for Power Grip jar openers/strap wrenches for more than a decade and I'm glad to see that they're back on the market.Read more ›

One of the grips, the smaller one, broke the first time I used it. The larger one is still intact, but I use it very carefully. This is not what I expected. Ronda ManassePublished on September 20, 2013 by arnold manasse
