About the Author
Kari S. Sanders graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with bachelor of science degrees in both engineering physics and electrical engineering. She earned an MS in electrical engineering from UCLA and an MBA in strategic management from Regis University. She is a certified project manager (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI).
She was first introduced to project management as an intern at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Her work there included assisting with her first successful proposal, which facilitated the use of the linear accelerator for proton-beam therapy experiments.
She has nearly twenty years of experience with hardware and software development projects ranging in size from $250,000 to $400 million. Her experience spans the project lifecycle from business capture to operations as well as the breadth of ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) systems from optical payload and spacecraft development to ground systems, algorithm development, and data dissemination.
