I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was insightful and pushed me to do further research in Nihilism.
I find that reading Brett Stevens’ book Nihilism: A Philosophy Based on Nothingness and Eternity helped me further understand this book and would recommend anyone furthering their research to do the same.

I have been interested in nihilistic philosophy for years. Coming from the extreme metal community, many bands write about the topic of nihilism and took inspiration from Nietzsche and other individualistic philosophers who did not tow the line of herd mediocrity. I always saw nihilism as a philosophy of individual power, of defying authority because that authority was based on the arbitrary values of the one choosing what laws should or shouldn't exist and further basing their authority on their own subjective value preferences. Many people only think of nihilism as this "don't care about anything dude!" Big Lebowski type of mindset (great movie, but people misunderstand nihilism because of it, although this does create some funny moments in the film). Furthermore, people think of nihilism as this fatalistic or pessimistic attitude. Quite the contrary, as this book explains the philosophy of nihilism as the way I always understood it to begin with. Never before has the philosophy of power been summed up as succinctly and cogently as it is here.
Stillwell condenses nihilism down in a way where the novice can easily understsnd, while at the same time perhaps offering more advanced and technical metaethics philosophers a way to sum up their arguments in a clear and concise manner. He writes in a style that meshes together academic style prose with down to earth, everyday language. This makes the book easy to follow while still maintaining the intellectual capacity that this very large and difficult subject calls for. He illustrates his arguments by taking quotes and influences from many other philosophers such as Nietzsche, J.L. Mackie, A.J. Ayer, Benjamin DeCasseres, and Ragnar Redbeard, author of the infamous and powerful book "Might is Right." He also explains the philosophy of these authors and many others in a way where someone gets the basic idea of what these writers were trying to convey.
Furthermore, this is a much needed book for the modern age. In a society where authoritarianism of a moralist variety is running rampant, this book serves as a useful tool for arming your mind with the necessary arguments you will need to show these authoritarians, and their supporters, why their entire herd moralist ideology, system of thought, and reasons for wanting to rule you are based on illusions and mere assumptions. The reified abstractions of the human mind have caused the PC society we have today, and Power-Nihilism is the antidote to that, for once you read, understand, and absorb the information in this book, you will be able to protect yourself from intellectual dishonesty, gaslighting casuistry, and the guilt-tripping chicanery currently practiced by harbingers of the mainstream moralist narrative. For once your mind is ready and immune to such underhandedness, you will be on your way to enacting your own will to power.
I recommend reading this. It will challenge you and enlighten you, as well as getting you to think about human perceptions in a way you may not have previously thought about them. The perfect book for the modern age.

The word nihilism is thrown around as an insult, and either deliberately or ignorantly used to describe some sort of depressed, teen, pseudo-philosophical attention-seeker. This is a shame because there is a set of ideas that does embrace the label "nihilism" that is philosophically sound, life-affirming, mature, and individualistic. Immediately the word nihilism will push people away. Perhaps it should, but not for the reasons one might expect.
Be afraid of this book if you have an emotional need to believe in objectively true moral structures by which to guide your life. Whether athiest, theist, or otherwise, this book will challenge any notion the reader might have of objective morality. (Watch out new atheists, Stillwell (and other philosophers of amorality) have a philosophically sound response to your desire to hold onto morality without God!)
This book is quite easy to read. It is not a wordy, academic piece. Almost anyone could read along and follow. The book is rather short, you could easily read this in a day or two if you tried. This is part of the value of this work, without meaning criticism, this is like a "Dummies guide to nihilism". It is short, informative, accurate, and forceful. If the reader wants to go further I would suggest Richard Garner's "Beyond Morality", Joel Mark's "Ethics without Morals", or any of the works mentioned in "Power-Nihilism".
The author, a rare type of autodidact, having deep knowledge of the beliefs and ideologies that he refutes (Christian morality, for example), has ventured into territory that few will go willingly. The style of writing is obviously influenced by Ragnar Redbeard (pseudonymous author of the infamous book "Might is right: survival of the fittest"). James slips in and out of this inflammatory style, which by design makes for powerful prose.
Throughout the book, Stillwell's opinions on various issues becomes clear. The readers must be careful to recognise the philosophy of power-nihilism from the author's application of it. In itself, power-nihilism does not assert any specific values. One could even read this work, agree, and assert a will to power to being a member of the 'slave' morality class (a set of values that the author clearly despises). I suspect that most people that do understand this work will, on the other hand, take from it an inspirational message to be bold, brave, and life-affirming, asserting values of 'master' morality (like the author).
To be clear, unlike other reviews on amazon that I have read, this work is not racist, and does not discuss race at all. One could read this work, and assert racist values, or one could read this work and assert 'equality' as a value. The danger that this work presents, is that there is no objective value to be asserted, and instead, a certain type of person (the power-nihilist) will assert their own values. This is still a very dangerous idea, but one that I personally find value in acknowledging.
There is gold contained within this book, but it might not be apparent to all who read it. To fully appreciate this book you would have to be truly open to revisiting your most fundamental assumptions. The person that understands and benefits most from this book would be willing to truly eschew modern morality as a given, and to be brave enough to assert an individualistic subjective framework instead.
Having read a few books on meta-ethics and nihilism specifically, I will keep this book close at hand, as a quick reference work, its value is in its brevity, simplicity, clarity, and force.

This book is needed in todays world many people think themselves free thinkers simply because they see hypocrisy in religion or the government. However Power Nihilism shows us that we are also manipulated an controlled by absolutist systems of ethics - that claim there is such a things as objective morality. If you have read Ragnar Redbeard's amoral nihilism style writings or familiar with Nietzche's overman an the creation of ones own values in seeking will to power then you should read this book Power Nihilism, it will help you to even further put will to power style Nihilism in to more perspective.

I am only 20 pages into this book, and I had to put it down to come here and Write a review.
The explanations are concise, and powerful; and complex ideas are simplified and digestible even for people totally new and unfamiliar with philosophy.
The author uses a lot of examples, in order to portray his ideas in relatable terms, which proves to be incredibly helpful. It’s an absolute page turner if I have ever seen one. I’ll probably finish it in 1 or 2 sittings.
Warning This book is not for the PC truth hating crowd.

This is the last book you will ever need to read on ethics. Very good work.
