Top customer reviews
Unfortunately the set I received has a malfunctioning right pedal. No signal being sent and I've switched out batteries several times and done everything else to solve.
I sent a note to Powertap (Saris) customer service as soon as I figured out what the issue was, and after almost a week, still no response (except an autoreply confirming they received my email).
The readings from the left pedal seem fine, but the unit won't calibrate and it looks like my Garmin 820 can't use the advanced features of individual pedal readings. I've used the Powertap app on iPhone, but it's not feasible while I'm riding and I have a Garmin unit so I don't have to use my phone.
It's not as bad as I expected to clip in/out given the increased weight/balance vs Shimano pedals, but the cleats provided with the pedals are much lower quality than the standard cleats. They slip easily on pavement and after a few rides, there's significantly more wear & tear than I've experienced with traditional cleats.
I debated getting these vs. the Vector pedals, but went with these given the ease of removal/installation vs. Garmin.
I'm going to return this set as I wait for a Powertap response, since I don't want to get stuck with a bum set of expensive pedals.
Upgraded from 2 stars to 3 stars. Received a replacement battery cap and now both pedals register. Still issues calibrating with Garmin. Usually takes about 2 tries to get both pedals to register.
Power seems to spike a lot in the first 10-15 minutes of working out before it stabilizes. Earned a few Zwift sprint awards from the spikes.
Pedals come with cleats and a set of AAA batteries, after using these for the past 4 months I have just replaced the batteries as of last week.
These pedals paired fast and easily to my Garmin 820.The first time I powered them up I used an IOS device to update their firmware, which also was fast and simple.
My only negative is the cleats. I am a fan of SPD-SL for road and these don't feel nearly as good as that provided by the wide Shimano surface.
Have several power tap wheels. Good for rt vs left but initial impression is not quite as accurate fore different positions,, standing and hard torques. Overall good
