Top Customer Reviews
I would recommend this company just for the sear fact that they really seek to provide the highest level of customer service and satisfaction. I spoke to a miss Wendy today and she was absolutely understanding and helpful with my product issues and managed to help me get a replacement. Originally one star review but with the level of service I think it deserves three since the product could have been faulty.
Will test replacement and update in a week or two.
After reading other reviews I am surprised at some of the high marks this gets. Needles to say that I expected something a little better and hope that my next one will be better. I will give this a second chance since I believe that faults can happen. Returning to find out and will post up date soon. with out ever using the light feature and having it near areas it would recieve solar lighting to recharge.
"Generally speaking, we only offer exchange within 30 days. To solve this problem, please help to return the item for replacement."
I was unsure as to whether or not they would issue me a replacement ( their answer was kinda vague) but they told me to send it in anyways. It's been around three weeks since I sent it in with the tracking number and I haven't got any sort of receiving confirmation and any time I've asked them about the claim they tell me just to be patient and just keep deflecting any sort of concrete response. As much as I loved this product, I have to rate low until I receive some sort of closure on the situation. Five stars for a great product, -3 for a very poor communication from their claims management team. Will happily update with a higher review if I hear back within the month.
UPDATE: The replacement was waiting in the mail today. Although I feel bad about having written the review the same day I received the replacement and would've moved it up to a 5, the manual on the inside of the box says there is a 1 year warranty for a defective product, not 30 days. -1 for the minor guilt trip the representative gave me about pursuing a replacement "outside of warranty", rest works great.
UPDATE 2: The replacement died within two weeks and I didn't want to open up another warranty claim fearing this exact same thing to happen, but I'm probably not going to get a replacement for this one too. At this point I don't really have a choice but to downvote it to a 1.
It worked like a charm while we were in Europe. I kept the battery fully charged and was able to fully charge the iPhones and GoPro with a single battery charge with some to spare! It truly was a lifesaver, although we didn't use the solar panel function during our trip.
When we returned to the states, we found several occasions where the Poweradd charger was out of battery, so we popped it in the dash of our car while we ran errands and it became charged enough to be able to charge an iPhone in an emergency (this was a great emergency feature but I wouldn't rely on the solar charge).
Then one day, about 2 months after we started using it, I plugged in the USB to charge it, and the blue indicator lights didn't come on. I tried to turn on the battery, then the flashlight... nothing. I left it plugged in for 24 hours... nothing. I left it in the sun for 12 hours... nothing. Dead.
Customer support was challenging (there was a bit of an English barrier) and despite the "1 year worry free warranty" we had to fight a bit to get them to take the charger back and refund us our money (we would have settled for a replacement but they did not offer us that option). Ultimately we had to threaten to contact Amazon regarding the text on our order for this charger that specifically says "1 year worry-free warranty", since this appeared to be a misrepresentation when they said they would not refund, repair or replace the charger, even though it was defective.
Ultimately, we had to ship it back at our expense (just a few $) and the full retail amount we paid for the item was refunded to our Amazon account.
I would not buy Poweradd again, but while it worked, it worked fantastically!
Charging ability: 5 stars
Customer service: 2 stars (they were very nice, but stubborn about the "worry free warranty")
Dependability: 3 starts (since it broke)
Solar charging: 3 stars (helps out in a bind, but it's not really for regular use as it takes a long time)
