Breathe Freely Under the Surface Like You Were On Land
The Powerbreather is a symmetric snorkel that brings in fresh from both the top tubes, and exhales your CO2 from the bottom. There is no mixed CO2 air as with a any traditional snorkel.
Top valves on the tube only open briefly for an inhale, otherwise staying closed and keeping water out. You can literally hold your breath, dive deep, come up and inhale, with no water entering the snorkel. You can swim in choppy, wave like conditions without ever turning your head to breathe.
Saliva or any water that may have entered during a breath just drains out the bottom, no purging of water necessary. Just dry, fresh air, with every breath. With a Powerbreather, you can swim for further and easier than you ever have before. Safely, with fresh, dry air with just relaxed breathing.
Recreational swimmers, triathletes, para athletes, endless pools, general snorkeling, all benefit from the Powerbreather. (*Not for SCUBA) Can be worn with swim goggles or diving masks
A traditional front snorkel obscures your view, wobbles on flip turns, and like a traditional side snorkel, it has mixed air with CO2 which is not healthy, effects oxygen to your bloodstream, effects endurance, and can cause headaches.
A Powerbreather gives a clear view, won't wobble, fits all heads, and only brings in fresh air. You can swim or snorkel long distances for any amount of time, with never having to turn your head, breathing fresh air.
We believe in making swimming fun and easier for thousands of people around the world.
The Powerbreather Wave edition has ocean fun written all over it. Yes, you can literally swim parallel to the shore of choppy ocean waves, ebbing and flowing, propelling yourself, without ever having to turn your head and gasp for air. No purging, just breathe.
This experience is what has swimmers around the globe raving about the Powerbreather. The slight buoyancy of the filled chambers, the fresh air system, the dryness in even wavy conditions, the snug fit to your head with a clear view of what lies beneath and beyond, makes swimming in what would be difficult conditions, enjoyable.
The extra long speed vents with the Wave edition help prevent any breaks in your breathing in choppy conditions. So even on that cold windy day, you will take to the water with excitement and anticipation.
Breathing issues. Some reviews have mentioned it difficult to breathe. Improved on in Spring of 2017 is the now standard Easy Vents making it easier to breathe. Medium (previous version) and Power vents sold separately. If your speed vents do not say 'Easy' on them, reach out to Powerbreather.
The Ameo Fresh Air System
The patented Ameo Fresh Air System sets the Powerbreather apart. In a traditional snorkel, you inhale and exhale in the same tube; this is not healthy and can be detrimental to your workout and health. With the Powerbreather, you inhale from the top tubes, and exhale out the bottom, completely separating O2 and CO2. Fresh air every breath. The system also uses a membrane system to prevent water from getting in, making swimming in rough water or waves ideal. No need to turn your head to breathe.
For Recreational Swimmers and Triathletes
Why swim with a snorkel?
Intensify your strength/endurance training with constant fresh air. Optimize swimming position, action, and efficiency while training to increase respiratory volume.
For Snorkelers and Freedivers
Safe breathing over long swimming times (no pendulum breathing). Focus on the wildlife rather than your breathing; fluids like water and saliva simply drain out with gravity from the bottom.
The Twist Lock system comfortably adjusts to any adult head size, and the contours of the Powerbreather ensure that it works with almost any pair of swimming goggles.
Flipturns? Training in choppy open water? Want to mimic hypoxic breathing? Modular attachments let you do all that with the Powerbreather (flip caps included with Wave and Lap models, see comparison chart below).
Who's using Powerbreather?
Steffen Deibler, World Record Holder - 50m Butterfly
'The Powerbreather is an innovative, new technical aid. With it I can fully concentrate on the forward motion in order to get as quickly as possible from A to B at the end, or – in the sea, if time is not an issue – to incessantly watch the turtles and dolphins.'
Thomas Lurz, 12-Time World Champion, Open Water Specialist
'The Powerbreather is a great asset for me, whether I train professionally or simply watch fish in the sea and relax. I can strongly recommend it to every high performance or hobby athlete as a clear better alternative to conventional snorkels.'
Jan Frodeno, Olympic, World, and European Champion
'Various breathing resistances and a permanent supply of fresh air open up new, effective training possibilities in the water – at a steady position in the water as I do no longer have to turn my head for breathing. Good for professionals as well as for beginners.'

Ideal for distance swimmers, those learning proper stroke, up to professional level trainers. Works in open water, ocean water with rough conditions, and even flip turns in a pool. The sport PB0102 does not include the accessories for aid in flip turning. The lap PB0102 has all accessories except the extended speed vents for waves or sinking low in your stroke. The wave includes everything. kit contents: 1x Powerbreather PB01; 2x speed vent s (standard); 2x speed vent L (extended version for open water); 2x flip cap (for flip turn or open water); 1x blind cap (for flip turn); 1x case.

Update 7 Months: I have swum probably 100 times with this snorkel, and it is the best on the market. After 5 months, I was getting a little mist in the air I was breathing. I found if I removed the rubber valve and cleaned it, this mist was mitigated for 40 laps maybe. Then I would take the valve cover off and clean it again (3 minute process maybe). I emailed Ameo and informed them of my issue. They said the first batch of these had a minor valve issue which was corrected in the next version. They offered to ship me a new snorkel of the new design for free. I have used the new snorkel 10 times maybe, and it is even better than the beta version. My air is completely dry. Great product, fantastic customer service.
The Ameo PowerBreather is the best swimming snorkel available. I have had the Finis Swimmer's Snorkel Swimmer's Snorkel Yellow for over a year, and it has improved my swimming endurance, but the Ameo PowerBreather is better.
I am a 39 year old man, I swim 1.5 miles, 3 times a week as 3 of my 5 cardio workouts for a week. A year ago, I decided I wanted to integrate swimming into my cardio routines. I swam on a team in 6th and 7th grade, but that has been more than 20 years ago. I started swimming and found I had 2 major issues.
1) I hated keeping count of my laps.
I purchased a lap counting watch to do it for me Swimovate Pool Mate Watch Speed, Distance and Lap Computer for Swimmers (Black)
2) Turning to breath was making my neck sore, and reducing the amount of laps I would complete.
I first looked into a snorkel mask Seaview 180° Snorkel Mask for Adults/Youth. Easy-Breathing Full-Face Design. Best Snorkeling Experience with Anti-fog and Anti-leak Technology. Huge Viewing Area! Tubeless Design Prevents Gag Reflex., but this said it was not for lap swimming, and would not work well for lap swimming.
I then found the Finis Swimming Snorkel (linked above), which has been great over the last year. With a lap-swimming snorkel (front mounted, not side mounted to keep in place while lap swimming) I have been able to consistently improve the quantity of laps I am swimming and the speed of those laps.
I have now moved to the Ameo PowerBreather. I am one of the first Americans to have this device. I have used it maybe 20 times in 2 months, swimming between 50 and 250 laps per swim.
A comparison of the Ameo PowerBreather to the Finis Snorkel:
Finis= very little. There is a cap to keep water out during turns Snorkel Dry Top, but I never purchased it.
Ameo= 30% breath restriction would be my estimation of how it feels, 50% restriction with one side using flip turn "blind cap". More about blind cap assy below. [Update: 3 months ownership: even with this perceived restriction, I can pull in more air. I breathe as hard and fast as I would running. My lungs are getting stronger, and as I use this device I find I have gotten into a similar breathing pattern as I would running; great for cardio.]
Comfort during swimming:
Finis= good, no swim cap necessary, goggles fit easily with this, have to adjust occasionally as tube moves.
Ameo= good, must wear swim cap as adjustment knob pull hair without a cap, goggles have to be adjusted differently as the PowerBreather is close to them by your temples. Does not need any adjustment over time, never moves.
Finis= every 40 laps maybe I would have to stop and clean out the Finis snorkel, spit would build up in the bottom and backwash a little when I was breathing.
Ameo= no spit buildup, no adjustment. I have swam 250 laps without adjusting the Ameo PowerBreather.
Finis= description says you can do flip-turns just blow out hard to clear water from the turn, but when I did them the Finis snorkel would change angle and I would have to adjust it, so no flip turns for me. The freestyle version that follows your head may be better at this.
Ameo=slow flip turns are great, no movement of the device, once you are back at the top of the water, breath normally, no hard exhale needed to clear. Fast flip turns seem to pull in a little water, you can stop this by putting the "blind cap" on your flip turn side (right for me). This blocks off one of your tubes completely, no water in on the flip turn, but now I would say the breathing restriction is 50% up from 30% with both tubes open.
Finis= I bit the mouthpiece enough times to bite off the small teeth separator parts, still works, but Finis requires jaw pressure to keep in place.
Ameo= completely held in place by the mechanism. Much more comfortable to not have to hold in place with your mouth.
I am liking the Ameo Power breather much better. If you are dedicated to swimming, I highly recommend it. If you are put off by the price though of $100, then maybe the $30 Finis will get you most of the benefit for a much lower price. Your fitness tools can drive your performance, if you want the best, pay the premium and buy the Powerbreather.
