Good tools for the money but the packaging is problematic

I saw the other reviews complaining about the packaging. I figured, I knew better and I could get the extensions off the plastic easy by warming them up with a hot air gun, it didn't work. The plastic snapped off in the tools just like it did for everyone else. I probably should have taken a star off for having to do this but they are really nice extensions... Anyway I took a my hand drill and a 3/32" drill bit, drilled though the broken plastic stub in the tool and popped them out with a seal pick. This couldn't have taken more than 5 minutes and wasn't hard to do.

I'm not sure which retail store sells Powerbuilt brand tools. It isn't Harbor Freight, nor Home Depot. What I CAN tell you though, is that these extensions feel better produced and heavier duty than any I found at Harbor Freight or Home Depot, AND they were cheaper. You can't go wrong with these extensions. I've put a lot of torque on the longest one, and it has held up so far. (Short of a 250 pound man standing on it to break a bolt loose..... we'll probably get to test that out someday.)

These extensions came packaged on a little plastic hanger, for retail store display. They didn't come off easily at all, and I had to resort to using some channel locks to "rip" the plastic out of the end of the tool. But heck, that just means that they were packaged well. Do yourself a favor and don't try to remove these from the package while your hands are all greasy and oily. You'll fail. LOL.

Very hard to remove from plastic holder

The product seems to be fine but the plastic that holds the parts to the packaging is very difficult to remove. I had to hold the plastic with pliers and twist a screwdriver between the extension and the pliers to be able to pull the plastic out of the extensions.

I didn't use them as yet.They seem to be a little flimsy,but the main problem is that part of the packaging broke off into each of the extensions.I had to drill it out and use a needle nose pliers to get it out.

Quality seems absolutely fine, but the packaging ruins it. It's so tight that the plastic gets stuck in the square drive hole and breaks off. You need to drill it out and try to pry it out with a pick to make it work. No 1/4" drive extension set is so special that it's worth this effort. Worth the extra .50 cents to buy a different brand with regular packaging.

I use the smallest extension practically every time I have to torque my truck wheel lug nuts to spec. The serrations come in handy for manual motion on a fastener. You actually get a pretty good grip. The chrome is still in good shape (about 9 months later), they connect securely, and the sockets fit snug on them. With the DIY automotive repairs I like to embark on, having the two longest ones seems wise. I haven't used them as much, but just having them on hand and saving some money by purchasing this set has pretty much covered me for whatever I might need to do on my 1999 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner.

The plastic stems crammed in for display can't be removed by force as they are too tight. They break off inside. I had to burn the plastic out with a torch before I could use them. Lose the dang plastic!
