Added 9/15/14- This jack has performed well for over a year and shows no sign of problems. It is used at least twice a month.
The good: action is fairly smooth, lifts several hundred pounds without complication. No leak of pump oil on first uses and no air purge needed.
The not so good: breathtakingly bad finish gives little confidence in long term prospects for this jack. Most likely, a load of these sat in a wet warehouse before painting. The incredibly grainy base and small to moderate amount of rust that fell out of the pump handle yolk when I inverted the jack don't do anything to dispel this idea. Also, the pressure relief valve was solidly painted shut in position, but could be broken loose with a little effort and now moves fairly easily. The piston shaft, at least, looks reasonably well polished.
Bottom line: you get what you pay for.
I purchased another Jack like it, not the same brand, I have had nothing but problems with it.
This Powerbuilt 647501 Heavy Duty 12- Ton Bottle Jack actually deserves a better review than my original one.
After priming It has out lifted 3 jacks, one of my other ones the handle broke on it after about a month.
In the future I will be purchasing another Powerbuilt Jack from the same seller, they got to my door on time, and at a much better price than others.
Dont ever trust ANY hydraulic jack alone... please use jack stands.
However in its defence, my problems result from my misinterpretation of the specs - there is nothing inaccurate in the description - you most certainly can raise something to the height of 16+ inches above the ground - but only if it's already 11+ inches of the ground (piston fully depressed, threaded extension fully extended); you can also raise it to that maximum height if the load starts 3 inches lower, ie the height of the jack (8+ inches) with the piston at its depressed position; but to do so requires 2 operations as described above. So there's no way I can criticize the tool - it does what it says on the tin.Read more ›

Junk. I bought two of these, both bleed air despite trying every possible solution. Depending on what you're needing this for, consider a screw jack instead.Published 1 month ago by Daniel H. Yeary
Does all I need it to do. We use it to level our garden shed annually. Does the job perfectly and saves me from paying $150 for a shed company to show up and spend 15 minutes. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Rosemary Waldbillig

The jack works as advertised, with no issues. I will say from a previous review I was expecting to receive a case for the jack, but I am guessing that is no longer a standard... Read morePublished 3 months ago by Ross Earley
