Geno gives down-to-earth real advice that helps to you prepare your program and gives valuable insight so you can better anticipate certain challenges. The book is well laid out and organized.
As someone who is self-taught with managing an affiliate program, this book is an encouragement because it also explains some of the not-so-fun parts of managing an affiliate program, like high numbers of inactive affiliates, and that it’s a normal part of most programs and not necessarily a fault of the quality of the program.
This book also provided many creative, yet practical, ideas to help affiliates boost their sales or for the affiliate manager to engage their affiliates to be a more active participants in the program.

5) MY CONCLUSION
The title says "Quick Reference for Affiliate Managers & Merchants", but I personally think, you should read this book if you are also an affiliate marketer. It will give you great ideas about how the business works from the affiliate manager & merchant side.
My conclusion is; This is a "MUST READ" book if you are in the affiliate industry, or planning to get started.
I've been interested in the domain of online marketing for a long time but I used to get sidetracked by not having the necessary awareness to implement all my ideas. I had the basics in my mind but I didn't know the exact steps to get to where I wanted, and Geno's guide made those clear for me, along with a bird's eye view of the journey ahead. There is a lot of information on the internet but it's really easy to get lost in it and not grasp the basics. I find the way the information is incorporated in this book a valuable asset because it always keeps you engaged and helps you not only see the bigger picture, but learn to manage every detail of the steps. I used to worry I might not be creative enough and I wouldn't be able to put in motion great promotional campaigns (my greatest skills lie in the organization realm) but this guide made me see you can become creative if you put in work and filter any idea to the best of its potential.
Every bit of information in this guide is clear and concise and it's extremely easy to maneuver between sections, as it pinpoints all the ares you should cover, from the pre-launch phase to the launch and further down the road, when you gather enough experience and it's a question of constantly improving your program. I was really interested in the common mistakes section not only because it helped me view things from different perspectives, but also because, as Geno puts it, you won't have time to make all the mistakes yourself, so it's preferable to learn from others. In every business you'll meet with trial and error and the important part is getting to the bottom of things and truly understanding what problems might arise. I was impressed by the amount of thought Geno put into this and how he managed to get each point across so clearly, backed-up by statistics and a lot of examples, to reinforce the knowledge with real life hands-on experience.
One other thing I noticed with every page is Geno's constant respect and understanding of his affiliates. It helps keeping you actively engaged in your communication and you a glimpse into how they think and act, all the while making sure you'll know how to be more effective and stimulating in your business relationship. You'll learn the different types of affiliates you'll encounter and how to properly encourage each of them, in order to fit their specific needs. In the aftermath of reading this, I really gained a new and improved understanding of what I was doing wrong and how many things I missed when interacting with affiliates. I became more focused on gaining their trust and proactive about keeping it and making sure I am not only meeting their needs but also exceeding them.
The vocabulary in this book is also easy to understand and you won't stumble through a lot of tech terms. If you do, you can always consult the Glossary, to make sure you understood each term correctly. You won't have to worry about not picking up subtle nuances of language, or not being able to understand strategies, as everything is written in a straight forward manner.
Finally, I recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone involved in online marketing, amateur or pro alike, affiliate manager or affiliate. It's not a "get rich quickly" book, it's meant to improve your strategy and if you are hardworking enough, it guarantees you will achieve success. Geno's passion seeps through each page and you'll find yourself getting more interested from one chapter to the other.
