The book begins with a pre-test and ends with a post-test to see how much your skills have improved. You can also register to take free tests online. If your multiplication skills are not so good, I would advise looking into another book before you begin this one. This book begins with fractions, decimals and percents and then you move on to ratios and proportions, averages, probability and geometry. I also like this book because he has lessons that cover how to deal with word problems buy using straightforward approaches and what he calls backdoor approaches. There's also a glossary and an appendix about how to prepare for a math test. Good for anyone with major math anxiety.
The only reason I give this book 4 out of 5 stars is that I needed to review algebra and while this book reviews that topic it's the last lesson under Miscellaneious Math (which covers positive and negative numbers, length units, squares and square roots and algebraic equations) and I needed to refer to another book to get the information I was looking for.
Pre-Test, done in the beginning, is multi-choice so if you think you got the answer, but can find your own, you can guess. Ever heard about SAXON MATH? SAXON MATH, which I have been previously exposed to when trying to make a math website, is all right just for practicing math skills, not for and only sometimes for understanding. This book is made to make endless math practice sheets a thing of the past.
