It’s a shame that any woman has to do the dance backwards and in high heels to get less respect (to paraphrase Bob Thaves speaking about Ginger Rogers) than a man, but this book is a leap in the right direction. The trick is not to keep stumbling over the same inequalities over and over. Krook’s writing will save you from saying “Oh, if I could only go back I would have said, should have said, _____________.” Her writing prepares you to respond calmly and confidently in the face of false assumptions and thinly veiled misogyny.
I would recommend this text to any college-aged woman as the advice would serve female students well, and prepare her to enter the workforce. I would also recommend it to any manager of a young woman, so that they might better understand what their employees are grappling with.
