To make the journey into the power of now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. Although the journey is challenging, eckhart tolle offers simple language and a question and answer format to guide us. The words themselves are the signposts. For many of us there are new discoveries to be made along the way: we are not our mind; we can find our way out of psychological pain; authentic human power is surrendering to the now. We also find out that the body is actually one of the keys to entry into a state of inner peace, as are the silence and space all around us. Indeed, access is everywhere available. These access points, or portals, can all be used to bring us into the now, the present moment, where problems do not exist. It is here we discover that we are already complete and perfect. If we are able to be fully present and take each step in the now; if we are able to feel the reality of such things as the "inner-body," "surrender," "forgiveness," and the "unmanifested," we will be opening ourselves to the transforming experience of the power of now.

Two weeks later...I find peace and joy in the NOW and the relationship is over. Plus I have clarity in other life situation areas. During the two-week suffering-before-letting-go healing process I reached out to a Centers for Spiritual Living practitioner who teaches The Power of Now and has read Tolle's original Power of Now text 32 times. He helped by asking questions I was unable to ask myself.) I now make the Now the priority of my life. How wonderful to have a direct path to serenity.
For those who adhere to conservative Christian perspective, one can substitute " seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness" phrase for the word NOW.
I truly believe that this guy has reached enlightenment and wrote this book from and enlightened state. Many of the things he says are so profound that I just re-read them again and again in utter fascination. He points out such simple truths that so many of us spend a lifetime overlooking. I find that when I'm not reading this, I'm thinking about it and ways to practice it in my life. Everything he said rang so true. I really can't find fault or criticism with anything he claims to be true, because deep down, I know it's true. I had just never heard anyone articulate it before. This guy has the answers to life. Now I just need to work on turning believing into experiencing. I'm very new to these Buddhist-like teachings, but Mr. Tolle has really opened my eyes to the power of it. The power of Now, that is.
Also, if you're a Christian, as I am, and seem a bit skeptical by this type of teaching, I can assure you that nothing he says directly contradicts Christianity. Some terms he is reluctant to use, such as God, because of misuses of that term or idea, so he steps around that, so as not to offend certain readers. But I don't have a problem with that at all. Despite his vagueness in describing the Source of eternal love and peace and joy out there that we are all connected with, as a Christian it is easy for me to decide what he is talking about, and all his teachings have an overall message of love and peace and surrender; very complimentary to Christian ideals. If anything, this book strengthened my faith and has given me a better understanding of meditative prayer.
