This manual-style book instantly dives into Eckhart Tolle's principles of "living in the moment," which could be a jarring experience for readers who haven't read his preceding book, The Power of Now. For the initiated, though, this makes an excellent companion guide--rich in exercises and meditations to help readers get out of their minds so they can live more peacefully in their bodies. Sometimes it's hard to fathom what on earth Tolle is talking about: "To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of 'feeling-realization' is enlightenment." Be patient. All concepts will be revealed (or at least more carefully explained). Ultimately, Tolle leads readers into a new form of thinking (or actually not thinking) that erases the consuming habits of waiting, worrying, and being in fear. The first step is ending the "delusion of time." He asks, "Are you always trying to get somewhere other than where you are? ... Is most of your doing just a means to an end?" If so, Tolle has a book full of advice for you. As simplistic as this may sound, Tolle's work has spiritual merit and depth, especially for frantic Westerners who find their lives diminished by packed schedules and busy-ness. --Gail Hudson

I read the Power of Now but couldn’t relate as well to it. I’m not sure if it was the timing (perhaps my mind was more open) or what but reading Practicing the Power of Now was truly a spiritual experience. So many things I have struggled with became clear upon reading this book. Near chapter eight I felt as if a veil of peace had come over me. It was one of the most profound moments of my life to date … a true sense of detachment.
The concepts were explained so clearly and the examples to practice with really empower the reader to start making changes immediately. This will be in regular rotation for me until I have practiced enough to not need the reference anymore. I am so overwhelmed by the ideas in this book that I am eager to share and discuss it with everyone I meet.
TL;DR: read this book.
Two weeks later...I find peace and joy in the NOW and the relationship is over. Plus I have clarity in other life situation areas. During the two-week suffering-before-letting-go healing process I reached out to a Centers for Spiritual Living practitioner who teaches The Power of Now and has read Tolle's original Power of Now text 32 times. He helped by asking questions I was unable to ask myself.) I now make the Now the priority of my life. How wonderful to have a direct path to serenity.
For those who adhere to conservative Christian perspective, one can substitute " seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness" phrase for the word NOW.
it has helped me shine light of consciousness on negative patterns that keep dragging me in Past or towards the future.
My favorite quote is from Chapter 2 "The Present Moment is all you will ever have" The writer states that while we have to use the past and future to deal with practical aspects of our lives. yes, we have to reflect and Plan as needed. we should Always say yes to the Present moment and Live in the Now.
In Chapter 8 , the writer likens the Present Moment to a flashlight, that helps create clear in a dark foggy place...and states in chapter 9, enough presence helps rid of Dark Past mental activity...
if you are looking to learn and bring more presence in your life , read it. Goodluck!
