"Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." (Proverbs 31:31)

For a Christian woman, motherhood is the subtle art of building a house in grace: "The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands" (Prov. 14:1). Each day's work is significant, for it contributes toward the long-term plan. Each nail helps a house stand in a storm. But motherhood isn't a simple formula. Building a home childbirth, education, discipline requires holy joy and a love of beauty. The mother who fears God does not fear the future.

This book is part of the Canon Press series of books on the family, which has helped many people trying to deal with the on the ground messes that come with sinners trying to live under the same roof. This book on motherhood by pastor's wife Nancy Wilson covers everything from pregnancy to house rules to education to the differences between raising sons and daughters. Motherhood is a difficult calling, but the Bible has many things to say about how it can be an opportunity for service and love and growth in Christian joy.

Used by thousands, Canon’s Family Series provides the building blocks for a home centered on Jesus. The call to build a beautiful home is both an honor and a challenge. In this simple guide, Nancy Wilson draws on decades of experience to give Christian moms practical principles on childbirth, education, discipline, and more. What does a godly living room look like? Kitchen? Front porch? Junk drawer? Pastor Douglas Wilson takes the whole family on a room-by-room tour of a Christian house, showing how selflessness transforms everything. Christian parents should raise their kids with prayer, faith, and confidence. This accessible and challenging study by pastor Douglas Wilson lays out what God requires and promises as you parent your children. Current dating practices leave young people emotionally and spiritually wrecked. Pastor Douglas Wilson offers men and women biblical truth for honoring God, their parents, and one another as they pursue long-lasting relationships. “Is this radical Christianity? No. This is basic Christianity.” Longtime wife and mother Nancy Wilson presents the counterintuitive way Christian wives can maximize freedom and happiness in their marriage: respect their man.

These are our top sellers, presenting God’s grace and truth for every person at every moment. Normal day-to-day life with kids at early ages can be exhausting. Rachel Jankovic, mother of seven, provides personal stories and practical advice on how to persevere in the high but demanding call of motherhood. Our unchristian world preaches to men a gospel of weakness and fragility. Michael Foster and Bnonn Tenant challenge men to embrace what God made them: dangerous leaders, god-fearing husbands, inspiring fathers, loyal friends. How can you be a faithful woman in the unfolding consequences of feminism’s war against femininity? Rebekah Merkle focuses on God’s design for women, encouraging you to be a godly mom, a loving wife, and a bold entrepreneur. God designed the household as his kingdom’s command center—and Christians can choose to work either with or against God’s design. In this truly original book, C.R. Wiley unlocks the deep, eschatological centrality of the household. “This book is nothing less than a proclamation of the Gospel as embodied in family life.” Pastor Douglas Wilson gets at the heart of the family, revealing how listening to the Gospel transforms the way we disciple and care for our children’s souls."

These are our top sellers, presenting God’s grace and truth for every person at every moment. How do you raise great men, ready for work, marriage, worship, and suffering? Pastor and father Douglas Wilson gives practical advice on how to mold your boys into powerful servants of God, addressing everything from school to sports to sex. Wisdom. Courage. Modesty. In fifteen brief lessons, Nancy Wilson outlines the virtues of a godly woman. Suitable for small group bible studies or personal devotionals, this practical guide offers clarity and encouragement to women of all ages. Cooking for crowds is a great but tough ministry opportunity, requiring tons of stress, money, and mental math (0.75 tsp. x 5 = 3.75 tsp = 1.25 tbsps). Drawing on long experience, Rebekah Merkle provides big recipes that are quick, cheap, and classy. One of the self-centered ideas shaping our culture is that you are enough. You are not enough, Rachel Jankovic says. Pretending differently makes true happiness impossible. But in Christ, you can find more meaning and love than you ever hoped for. “You can’t score points until you have the ball. And reformers will not have the ball until they have a culture.” America needs redeeming change. Here’s how to do it, from one of our time’s most effective reformers.

I paid for "new" but received used!
I received this book today in the mail. The description of this order says "new," however as soon as I open the book there are marks all over the pages. Clearly it's used, which I wouldn't have a problem with, IF it had been advertised it this way. As for the rating of the book itself I haven't yet been able to read. My 1 star rating is because I paid for "new," yet received used!

If you are a mom or know a mom who needs great practical advice this is a perfect book. Nancy Wilson is clear and straightforward.

I absolutely love it. Some of her tips I do already, but others I have never thought of. For example, why we should have manners. Not to be above others, but to show courtesy in a loving godly way.

I have made it as far as the sons chapter and am so pleased.

One of my favorite pieces of advice that she gives to mothers is that we must love our children even when they are unlovable. Think teenagers can be so unlovable at times. God has done this for us! We must do this for our children.

I picked up 3 copies to gift to moms I know!

Mrs. Wilson forced me to look at my own mothering and home management with this book. She has inspired me to be better and do better in my home in a way that was loving and firm but not condescending. I feel like she is the Titus 2 woman, training me in this season of parenting little ones. I know I will be referencing back to this book many times in the future!

Nancy Wilson's writing style is very direct. She's not quite as "take no prisoners" as her husband Doug Wilson can be in his books, but she also doesn't convey the same charm and wit that sweetens Doug's spiciness.
I appreciate the scripture index included at the end, and I encourage readers to read those scripture passages in their greater context. Nancy's scripture quotes are correct, but sometimes the greater context points to a different, larger meaning.

There are many books for the Christian woman to choose from. Many of those books contain "fluff" that makes you feel good for a moment, but leaves you empty with no clear path ahead. Not Nancy Wilsons, she takes you deep and gives a clear vision of Christian living. Nancy Wilson is that godly mentor you have been praying for.

As a female who grew up in an atheist household with a working mom, this book has been life changing! Although I converted to Christianity in college, I’ve had a long and conflicting road to my Christian lifestyle. As a military spouse for several years after college, I have never had a Christian mentor but Nancy serves as one for me through this book.

Thank you Nancy

Nancy is always brief, but packs a powerful punch. Only the Lord knows the impact that their family’s faithfulness in ministry has and will continue to have on me and how that has changed the course of my family and their families forever. So thankful for sisters in Christ who are older women teaching the younger women

Reviewed in Australia on February 22, 2024
The last 3 chapters redeemed this book and had good advice re parenting children as they grow up into independent, godly adults, but the middle of the book was plagued with so many human-made rules!! Nancy says that children should stand with parents after church, not run around with their friends, and teenagers must sit with their family, not friends, during church. What Biblical principle do these actively fulfil?.l And saying anyone who lets their daughter play with Barbies will have her become bedroom-centred is crazy… I don’t know what kinds of Barbie’s Nancy has seen (if any) but I had 2 growing up- one was Cinderella in a ball gown & the other was Barbie doing grocery shopping (complete with pretend groceries) with little Kelly in the shopping trolley. What about them would cause a little girl to grow up bedroom-centred? And even young girls know that Barbie, with her small pointed toes and distorted body, is just pretend. Apart from that section, it wasn’t a bad book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book with a surprising error!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 30, 2018
Another of Nancy Wilson's excellent books - however the quote to begin chapter 13 'Letting them go' currently reads - "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother FULL STOP" The full verse including punctuation actually says "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. (Gen 2 v 24)" which gives a totally different and scriptural meaning.
Otherwise, as with all her books, instructive, based on solid scripture, and encouraging.
