My sole purpose of purchasing this chalk was to draw a 1st day of preschool 8x12 slate. My initial box arrived in an Amazon box without any bubble wrap or cushion. Literally half the chalk arrived broken. Most broke in half while some in three.
My replacement box arrived again in an Amazon box without any bubble wrap or cushion. This time the chalk arrived in one piece.
The chalk itself has two different tips. One side is the standard fat/round/soft chalk. The other is a hard and more thick colored pencil writing like tip. I couldn't get the writing tip to make a single mark on my chalk board. All I would get was the actual "nails on a chalkboard" sound.
The fat side of the chalk allowed me to make my 1st day of preschool sign but it was very very dusty. I would draw a letter and have to blow away the dust just to see what I wrote.
I honestly think you need to order chalk from an art supply store if you want to draw on a chalkboard or slate. The modern chalk is mostly liquid but there are soooo many reviews about people having difficulty removing the chalk. With the digital age, who needs blackboard chalk?
I do think this chalk works well on paper. It has been donated to my daughters art desk
Of course, the kids' hands still get a bit messy, so we simply provided a container of pop-up hand-wipes and a trash can to throw the used wipes into. The activity has proved SO popular that we have had to replace the 500' roll of paper after only 2 weeks of the exhibit being open and we go through the hand wipes at the rate of 2 boxes a day!
