I am not sure why people are saying it isn't washable. It washes out of our bathrub, hardwood floor, clothes, etc. It did not wash out of carpet even when professionally cleaned, but by the time the accident was addressed, a whole bottle of the paint had soaked into the carpet and pad for several hours. I never let my kids paint on carpet but our puppy got into a bottle and spread it all over our family room. Anyway, it is washable in my experience (unless they recently changed the formula). It hasn't flaked for us and we have used it on thing like dried clay dough, wood, pumpkins, etc. If I am concerned about flaking, I mix the paint with Elmers Glue (teacher trick)! As far as I know, you aren't supposed to use tempera on glass, so I would disregard those reviews that complain about that. Overall, I am super happy with this purchase. The price seems fair to me when it buys you three years of art experiences. I'll be ordering more!
Not wanting to get bent at the register, I decided to look on Amazon to see what kind of options there were. Prang to the rescue! 12, 16-ounce bottles, a wide assortment of colors (so that means less mixing the primary's to MAKE the different colors) which was a thrill to my young Grant Wood wanna-be. And for the price? Translated to about $2.50 a bottle, compared to twice that for half as much.
She has used some of the paint, but clearly this is going to last her a while. With the summer soon upon us and nice weather in the Midwest, she is starting to focus more on the pool and other outdoor activities... but as soon as the weather is bad or cold again, I am sure she will be right back at the paints. I will come back and let you know how well the paints last over time, to give an indication of shelf life.
But this is a good buy for your little artist!
I am SOOO happy with my purchase. I am painting cardboard, and much of what I have painted has needed only one coat and it looks good. My younger daughter is also painting pictures along side me and loving it. The colors are very vibrant, the paint mixes well, and again - you can't beat the price.
These are nearly as nice as my acrylics - I am forever a customer of Prang now! Thanks for the great price Amazon!
Markers begin to fade as soon as the sun hits them; they don't write well on coated posterboard, and it takes awhile to produce even one good sign, so the task of making a lot of signs is onerous. But this poster paint works great and is a much better solution! It doesn't fade; it's not reflective so there's no glare to prevent reading; and once you figure out your first sign, it's fast to produce all the rest.
Turns out that creating signs with a brush and this paint is more fun, and way more effective at getting drivers to be able to read your signs, especially if you use the black color. So, if you want good traffic at your yard sale, switch from markers to this stuff. What a difference it made for us -- our really big yard sale was virtually sold out by 11:30 and we know why -- everyone commented on how easy it was to read our signs.
Use notes: We found a half-inch brush worked best for bold lettering. Also, the paint takes awhile to dry, so plan to lay your signs flat on a driveway, sidewalk or lawn until they cure.
