1) Came in a cardboard envelope, no packaging other than a tag connecting the gloves.
2) I have a large hand, glove was a good fit, slightly loose, which is fine with me. However, the gloves seemed like an irregular - the four knuckle holes lined up with my middle three fingers, not with my pinkie (the holes are lined up straight, but my pinkie is shorter than the other fingers). Also, the snap on the right glove was misaligned by about 3/4", so when the snap is on, the back of the wrist gaps. As if I had an irregular. I added a photo.
3) I've noticed my hands getting black-stained, as others have, but I assume that will be temporary. I don't consider that a fault of the gloves.
I am satisfied with my purchase, I won't return the gloves, as the gloves are a nice quality leather at a good price, and I can live with the defects. But my grade won't be curved based on price.
Oh, btw -- I ordered these on Tuesday at like 4 am, and all the way from California they arrived today at 3pm in East Tennessee. Obviously the USPS man wears a pair of these and is probably Ryan Gosling, actually.
What I like about them:
--They are soft and supple and thin enough that you get good tactile feedback.
--I've also found that through a combination of their thinness and/or the vent holes in the fingertips you can fairly reliably use a touch screen device with them on. Which is good for those that use GPS devices (or their smartphones as GPS devices).
--They fit my hands and fingers well, not too loose, not too tight.
--You get a nice grip on the steering wheel. I did some driving in the mountains a few months ago and these gloves worked great. There were a few stretches of road that I was driving my sports car on that were making my hands sweat, which made my grip on the wheel not as confident, which made my hands sweat even more. Pop the gloves on--problem solved. I could go back to concentrating on driving and staying on the road and away from the 400' drop-offs. They also work great if you have a leather wrapped steering wheel for the 3 or 4 days your steering wheel is slick after you use leather treatment on it.
What I didn't like about them, but is better now:
--For the first few months I had them they leached leather dye on my hands if my hands sweat or were damp (wearing them in Florida during the summer months made this combination happen a lot). However, this seems to have stopped now that I've had them a while. You definitely need to be careful if you are wearing these gloves AND light colored clothing for the first few months you have them. Also, you will need to wash your hands soon after taking them off.
What I don't like about them (these are really only if you're wearing them for a long period of time 1+ hour):
--The seams are like normal glove seams, on the inside. Driving gloves should have their seams on the outside. It doesn't "look" as good, but the outside seams don't irritate your hand and fingers if you're wearing them for a while. If I wear these gloves for much more than an hour the seams start to irritate and bug me.
--I'm not sure if this is because my right wrist is a little bigger than my left (I'm right handed. I know my right fingers are bigger than my left fingers, so this probably applies to the rest of the appendage), or the right hand glove is a little smaller at the wrist, or a combination of both of these, but the right glove is more snug around my wrist than the left glove. It's not a problem for short duration, but again after about an hour I have to un-snap the right wrist for a bit. I know these are not $300, custom fit driving gloves, but you'd think with around 90% of the population being right-handed the manufacturer would make the right hand gloves just a hair bigger than the left hand gloves.
The material is very nice. My girlfriend is a fashion major and the wardrobe supervisor and costume designer at an historic theater and she is always the first one to tell me something is shoddy construction or poorly made, and she was practically drooling over them! Often times, the model wearing the item in the product picture will make it look way better than it is but I'll tell you what, these look just as good on my hands as they do on that other guy.
Her and I are going to look great as Joker and Harlequin for Halloween!
