I do not believe they will require a break-in period seeing how they fit. I intend to use these are driving and commuter gloves for 3 out of 4 seasons.
I will produce an update in the spring or summer to determine their reliability.
Early update: these gloves will work on your smartphone for typing. Also, the leather is very soft. That's a word of caution.
I have always driven with gloves (50 years), so I have had a lot of them, including the knitback summer types, Isotoner, expensive Italian ones, English riding ones. These could be the best pair I have had in a long time. I admit that begrudgingly, because I don’t like to give glowing reviews to stuff Made in China. This product is designed and made well, from first class leather (unlined), and it fits perfectly. The price is incredibly low (AND free shipping), as compared to what some highfalutin “brands” charge. In fact, if you cut the labels off, which is the first thing I usually do, you can tell anybody they are Orsini handsewn gloves that you paid $200 for and nobody will be the wiser. I’ll get them in brown, too.
I went small and its leather, so it stretched and ive been liking it...if only that pinky was a little longer, like...1/4 inch. The small ended up being way better for that tight glove feel. The first pair i got had loose stitching along the wrist, so I swapped them and got a well stitched pair.
I do like these, I think youll get a good product the first time as the black gloves i had tried initially were also well stitched. I liked the color of the brown better, shows a bit more character. They smell weird though, youll get into your car and ask "what is that smell?" and finally realize its the gloves. Its from the curing process and it will take a few weeks to fade. Might want to not leave them in your hot car for a bit and let them air out.
So impressive I ordered another pair, this time in black, to keep with the other car. Same design, same fit, same features, same apparent quality... but the leather seems a bit less supple, a bit more stiff, a bit more reluctant to stretch. Not enough of a difference to reject them by any means, but noticeable.
Based on these samples only, I'd say that if you don't care about the color, get the brown ones.
