Love these little guys. As a child I would play with these for hours. They mimick and mirror our movements...very comical. Ordered years ago - had several hundred hatch. Each Fall, I find new egg cases on my trees and shrubs. I cut them free and place in paper bags, which I keep in an unheated shed. When the Spring arrives I bring the bags into my house and check each morning and afternoon. All continue to hatch. I started with 4 eggcases. I know average around 15 (and those are the ones I find -may be more). I share with gardening/landscaping oriented neighbors. We have a very healthy population in the neighborhood now. Great with the aphids and other pests. Only wish I could find something to tackle the Asian tiger mosquito.

I put them in the fridge when I received them and took them out 1 at a time so I wouldn't flood the area with them. All 5 egg cases hatched for me last spring (2014). I ran into some of them later in the season while brush hogging the field. I saw something flying towards me the size of a small bat, I saw it was a praying mantis when it landed. They have a very distinctive profile when in flight, it will be easy to recognize now that I know what it is.
I'm not sure just how much these guys helped keep the other bugs down, but they certainly didn't hurt. As long as they keep hatching well, I'll get some every year until I see a good population in my area (rural Oklahoma)

I bought 5 eggs 1 has hatched so far. I expected all will hatch in time because they all look to be excellent quality. The little baby mantis are so cute you almost wana let them crawl around on your fingers! They like so climb and jump after they hatch. Even some of them pick fights with each other. It's really fun to watch them interact and move around. I can't wait to see some of the little fellas around my garden this summer!

As per another reviewer's suggestion, we placed each egg case in a separate paper bag, then taped them to a sunny window in our kitchen. The one bag that came with our order had a clear window in it, but I was a little concerned the other 4 in my plain paper bags would hatch and I would not notice. Fortunately, you can HEAR them when they hatch! Despite being tiny, they make quite a lot of noise crawling around in the bag. Our first egg case hatched in about 2 weeks. Our fourth hatched at about 4 weeks. We are still waiting for our fifth to hatch at 5 weeks. We got HUNDREDS of babies out of each of the cases and released them into our vegetable gardens. Weeks later, they are still EVERYWHERE and have nearly doubled in size. My kids are having a great time watching them (they are very entertaining) and I am thrilled to see them thriving in our yard!

I ordered the 5 egg cases and fully expected the 2,000 mantis to hatch. I have hatched them before from a local vendor, this was this first time from a computer based purchase. I placed all of the eggs into their own paper bags, placed three outside and two indoors just to see which would hatch first. Found that after 2 months, NONE have hatched, am very disappointed in this as we NEEDED and were expecting the 2,000. I had also ordered lady bugs which did arrive alive and are outdoors ( probably at a neighbors home). I was told by the vender that I would be given a refund, I will TRY again next near and HOPE that the vendor may have corrected what ever went wrong with his egg masses, maybe never had a male around for that hungry female????

I've ordered these from this seller twice & my eggs produced babies both times. This year, I ordered 2 eggs. One has hatched, still waiting on the other. It took around a month for them to hatch this time. I will try to upload some pictures.

I got these for my new garden and to do a little experiment. All the eggs hatched, except for the last one. I put them all out at the same time. The first two eggs hatched the most mantids. The third not so much and the fourth less then maybe 10. They stuck around for about 2 weeks, but now I haven't seen one for a while. Hopefully they are somewhere in our yard. It was really fun to see the babies running around all over the place.

I ordered these and they showed up quickly and packaged safely. I put them in ball jars with mesh and no lid on my window sill for about 4 weeks and within one week all of the egg cases had hatched and I had a bunch of praying mantis to release into my yard. I have tried this before with other companies and had duds each time. Yesterday, I saw my first teenager praying mantis and I was thrilled. Sound silly but it was a joy.
